Crossroads Agriculture to build two solar projects in Colorado

Crossroads Agriculture, a subsidiary of Soloviev Group, has announced plans to construct two solar projects with a combined capacity of more than 1 GW in Colorado, US. No financial details were disclosed, although Crossroads expects electricity costs to be notably lower than from the coal-fired power plants they will replace. The projects have the capacity to power nearly 250,000 US households.

Leeward commissions 171 MW wind farm in Colorado

Leeward Renewable Energy has commissioned its 171MW Mountain Breeze wind farm in Weld County, Colorado. The wind farm is comprised of 62 GE Renewable Energy onshore wind turbines. Citi bank provided tax equity financing of $162.9 million for the project. The wind park will provide energy to Colorado-based Xcel Energy under a long-term power purchase agreement.

Xcel Energy on track to meet clean energy goal by 2050

The strategic focus of Xcel Energy is on investing in cleaner power generation and transmission assets as well as in natural gas infrastructure. As a first step in this regard, in early 2018, it announced plans to reduce carbon emissions by 60 per cent (from 2005 levels), increase the share of renewable energy (RE) in its fleet to 55 per cent, and shut down 50 per cent of its coal capacity in the state of Colorado by 2030.
