DTEK to complete first phase of wind power project in Ukraine

DTEK Group, a Ukrainian energy investor, has completed the first phase of Ukraine’s Tyligulska wind power project. The first phase of the wind power facility, located in the Mykolaiv region, has a capacity of 114 MW, while the whole project will have a capacity of 500 MW. The facility’s Phase I includes 19 wind turbines and is intended to help Ukraine’s energy balance.

Enefit Green awards Nordex Group order for 255 MW in Estonia

Nordex Group, a German wind turbine manufacturer, has received a turbine order from Enefit Green for a 255 MW onshore wind cluster in Estonia. As part of the agreement, Nordex will provide 38 of its N163/6.X wind turbines to the Tootsi, Sopi I, and Sopi II wind farms.  Sopi I, Sopi II, and Tootsi will be built in Nord Pärnu, forming the most powerful wind project cluster in the Baltic states to date.

Hai Long and TECO ink EPC contract for onshore substation

TECO Electric & Machinery, a Taiwanese engineering business, has won an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a substation at Taiwan’s Hai Long offshore wind farm. For the 1.04 GW offshore project, the business will construct an onshore substation and deliver any associated equipment and onshore cables.

RWE launches its Clocaenog Forest wind facility in UK

RWE, a German energy company, has officially launched Clocaenog Forest, its largest onshore wind farm in the UK. The 96 MW onshore wind farm in North Wales has 27 wind turbines and can generate enough clean energy to power 63,800 UK homes. The project’s main contractor was Jones Brothers Civil Engineering UK.

Ørsted plans to develop renewable projects in Spain

Ørsted has finalised four partnerships to develop early-stage solar and onshore wind projects across Spain by participating in upcoming grid auctions. The company has signed partnerships with Glide Energy, Rolwind, ARBA Energías Renovables and Ereda. To support this strategy, Ørsted has established a team and an office in Madrid.

Masdar to build 4 GW of renewable energy capacity in Azerbaijan

Masdar has inked two agreements with Azerbaijan to develop 4 GW of clean and renewable energy projects. The company’s agreements with the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan offer the possibility of developing an additional 6 GW in a second phase, raising the total production capacity of the projects to 10 GW.

RPC to acquire 528 MW onshore wind portfolio in Sweden 

Renewable Power Capital (RPC), a UK-based energy investment group, has agreed to acquire four ready-to-build onshore wind projects in Sweden with a total capacity of 528 MW. The $856 million deal includes acquisition costs as well as the funds required to build the projects. The four projects, which are in the municipalities of Kramfors and Sollefte in Sweden, are expected to begin exporting power to the country’s national grid in 2025.

Vattenfall inaugurates a 353 MW onshore wind farm in Sweden

Vattenfall, Sweden’s state-owned power company, is set to open its Blakliden Fäbodberget onshore wind farm in the municipalities of Sele and Lycksele. Vattenfall owns a 30 per cent stake in the 353 MW wind farm, which is jointly owned by Vattenfall, Vestas, and AIP Management. The facility is equipped with 84 wind turbines and has the capacity to generate 1 tWh of clean energy, enough to power almost 220,000 homes in the area.

Iberdrola acquires rights for 1 GW onshore wind farm in Australia

Iberdrola has acquired the rights to Mount James wind farm in Queensland, Australia. The wind energy project covers more than 50,000 hectares of land and has completed its environmental studies. Reportedly, Mount James, in North Queensland, is said to be the world’s largest onshore wind farm, with a capacity of 1 GW.
