GE secures 200 MW turbine contract from Scout Clean Energy

Scout Clean Energy, based in the US, has selected GE Renewable Energy as the wind turbine provider for its 200 MW Sweetland wind project in Hand County, South Dakota. According to the agreement, 71 of GE’s 2.8-127 onshore wind turbines will be shipped to the Sweetland project, which Scout will manage. Scout and GE have jointly deployed 1.07 GW of wind energy capacity.

Rosatom, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power sign contract for turbine island at El-Dabaa NPP in Egypt

In order to construct the turbine islands for the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project in Egypt, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) and Rosatom’s engineering company Atomstroyexport have finalised a contract. Under the agreement, KHNP will develop 80 buildings and structures at the power plant’s four units. It will also take on the responsibility of procuring and supplying equipment and materials for the turbine islands.

GIG and Hydro Rein to develop 586 MW hybrid project in Brazil

Green Investment Group (GIG), a Macquarie-owned company, and Hydro Rein have agreed to form a joint venture to build and operate a 586 MW wind and solar power plant in Brazil’s northeast. The wind and solar hybrid project, named Feijo, will be developed in the Brazilian states of Piaui and Pernambuco. Feijo will be equipped with 80 wind turbines by Nordex, a wind turbine manufacturer.

Denmark to build energy islands for supply of renewable energy

Denmark is planning to set up two energy islands that can supply renewable energy produced by offshore sources to the domestic market of Denmark and other European countries. Denmark will build the first island in the North Sea to serve offshore wind turbines with a 3 GW initial serving facility. The second Denmark energy island will be built in the Baltic Sea’s Bornholm islands, with a serving capacity of 2 GW.

GE Renewable Energy links final units of Wudongde hydropower station to the grid in China

The last unit of GE Renewable Energy’s Wudongde (WDD) hydropower plant has been successfully linked to the grid for electricity generation and has completed 72 hours of trial operation. The company was responsible for the design, engineering, manufacture, installation monitoring, and commissioning of the six 850 MW Francis turbine generating sets and accompanying equipment for the hydropower project under a contract signed in 2015.
