Masdar to build DEWA’s 1.8 GW solar facility in UAE

Masdar, a United Arab Emirates based energy company, has signed a contract with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority to construct and operate the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. It will be constructed with an investment of $1.5 billion. The total energy generation capacity of the solar facility is 1.8 GW.

UAE inaugurates 900 MW fifth phase of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

The 900 MW fifth phase of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park has been launched in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It would reduce annual carbon emissions by 1.18 million tonnes while supplying energy to 270,000 households in the city. Developed with an investment of $544.4 million, this phase was implemented by DEWA, which holds a 60 per cent stake, along with a consortium of Acwa Power and the Gulf Investment Corporation which holds the remaining 40 per cent stake.

Masdar to build 100 MW solar PV plant in Turkmenistan

Masdar reaches financial close for solar facility in Azerbaijan

Masdar, a state-owned energy company in the UAE, has reached financial close on its Garadagh solar photovoltaic plant in Azerbaijan. The 230 MW solar project is the company’s first in Azerbaijan, as well as the country’s first independently funded solar project. Masdar wins 200 MW solar project in Armenia at a tariff of $0.029 per kWh

Masdar, a developer based in the United Arab Emirates, has won a tender to build a 200 MW solar farm in Armenia at a tariff of 0.029 per kWh. The plant will be built in Armenia’s Talin and Dashtadem districts. The solar farm will require a total investment of $174 million. Following Masdar’s initial offer of $0.0299 per kWh in December 2019, the Armenian government placed the project under competitive bidding. Masdar again won the tender by quoting a a reduced tariff of $0.0290 per kWh.

Masdar to develop 230 MW mega solar project in Azerbaijan

UAE-based developer, Masdar has signed a deal to develop a utility-scale solar project in the Republic of Azerbaijan. As per the deal, the company will be responsible for developing, financing, constructing, and operating the plant, which is 9 km northwest of the Alat settlement in Azerbaijan. The implementation agreement for the project was signed in January 2020 by Masdar and the plant is expected to start commercial operations in early 2023.

EBRD, GEF, and DEG issues $31.2 million loans for solar projects in Jordan

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and German development finance group, DEG have provided a $10.6 million loan in local currency to Yellow Door Energy to develop, construct and operate a portfolio of eight solar projects in Jordan. EBRD also mobilised $5 million provided by the Global Environment Facility and DEG provided senior loans worth $15.6 million for the projects, taking the total loan value to $31.2 million. The projects will have a total installed capacity of 48.3 MW and will generate 81 GWh of renewable energy per annum.

EDF, DEWA & Abu Dhabi Future Group commission Third phase of Dubai solar park

The Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (DEWA) has reported that the third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBRAM) Solar Park has been commissioned. This signifies an addition of 800 MW of solar capacity to the existing operating capacity of 213 MW. The third phase was developed by French renewables company, EDF in collaboration with DEWA and the Abu Dhabi Future Group.
