Maintenance Matters: Overview of wind O&M segment

As the world expands its wind power base, O&M will be the foundation for sustained asset performance. In a bid to meet renewable purchase targets, it is fair to expect that the wind capacities will grow further, thereby increasing the market size for wind O&M. Going forward, the sector should gradually move towards a data-centric, cyber-secure, and cost-optimised O&M model. Building a robust and future-ready O&M ecosystem will call for greater support for digital innovation, local capability development, and open data initiatives.

Türkiye Electricity Review 2025: EMBER

In 2024, solar power in Türkiye increased by a record 39% year-on-year. This pushed solar’s share of electricity to 7.5%, up from 5.7% in 2023. Wind remained steady at 10.7%, close to the previous year’s level of 10.6%. As a result, the total share of wind and solar in electricity generation surpassed 18%. Despite an increase in electricity generation from coal (+4 TWh) in 2024, coal’s share in Türkiye’s electricity mix slightly declined from 36.9% to 35.6%. Annual electricity generation from wind and solar in 2024 was 62 TWh, above domestic coal (47 TWh) for the second year in a row.

Electricity Generation Trends in China and the US

China’s electricity demand continued to grow – by 6.6% in 2024 (+623 TWh), down only slightly from 6.9% in 2023. 81% of the demand growth was met with the rise in clean generation – wind, solar, hydro, nuclear and bioenergy generation all rose. Electricity demand in the United States grew by 3% (+128 TWh) in 2024, caused partly by heatwaves over the summer months and partly as a rebound from a milder summer in 2023 when demand decreased by 1.3% (-55 TWh). The demand rise was predominantly met with higher solar, wind and gas generation, which also made up for a fall in coal generation (-22 TWh).

Need for Renewable Energy Transition in Australia: Report

The report “Our Renewable Future: A Plan For People And Nature” by WWF summarises that Australia needs a renewable energy transition that benefits people, climate and nature. To power our energy needs with renewables it’s estimated we would only require 1,200km2 – 2,000km2 or 0.0002% of Australia’s bountiful landmass (Blakers 2023). Already, renewables account for 40 per cent of the main power supply. Right now, there are legitimate concerns surrounding individual renewables projects, some of which have led to habitat destruction and impacts on threatened wildlife.
