Lightsource bp receives a $1.8 billion push for expansion of solar power

Lightsource bp, a British renewables developer, has secured a $1.8 billion credit and trade finance facility to support the expansion of its solar energy portfolio. South Africa begins commercial operations of the Greefspan II Solar PV plant

The Greefspan II solar photovoltaic power plant is the newest addition to South Africa’s operational commercial solar plants. It is located in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The project has been established under a partnership between the fund manager African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), the Spanish company TSK and South Africa’s Umbono Energy Partners. The total capacity of the plant is 63.2 MW, with roughly 188,822 photovoltaic modules installed.

American Securities LLC to acquire Swinerton Renewable Energy and SOLV, Inc.

American Securities LLC, a private equity firm, has entered into an agreement to acquire Swinerton Renewable Energy, the renewable energy division of Swinerton Builders, and the wholly-owned subsidiary SOLV, Inc. from Swinerton Incorporated. The acquisition will combine Swinerton’s existing Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) service groups under one company named, SOLV Energy.

TSE commissions 152 MW solar facility in Marville, France

TSE, a private French company specialising in solar energy, has inaugurated its 152 MW solar facility in Marville, France, which was built in collaboration with Enerparc AG. The Marville power station presently contains roughly 364,000 solar modules, some of which include revolutionary bifacial contemporary technology. The total installed power of 152MWp produced roughly 160 GWh per year, which is enough to meet 90 per cent of Verdun city’s annual usage.

ACWA Power wins wind bid in Uzbekistan

ACWA Power has won the bid for the construction and operation of a 100 MW wind power project in Uzbekistan. The company won the bid with the lowest tariff of $2.5695 cents per kWh. The tender will make the first competitively procured wind power plant in Uzbekistan.
