CEP Renewables LLC, an expert in the building of solar power plants on inaccessible properties such as landfills, brownfields, Superfund sites, and mining sites, will begin work on North America’s largest solar project built near a capped landfill.

This 25.6 MW solar project in Mount Olive, New Jersey will convert the old Combe Fill North Landfill Superfund site into an income-generating, sustainable energy-generating enterprise. The Mt. Olive Solar Field will supply clean energy to over 4,000 households, create new employment, and produce considerable tax revenue, all while enhancing the local community’s environmental quality.

Landfills can become environmental problems if not properly capped and closed, polluting the surrounding area. If they are abandoned by their operators, towns, states, or the federal government is left to bear the financial burden of remediating the contamination and restoring the region. This can have a huge impact on the local community as well as the state.

CEP Renewables plans, develops, and constructs utility-scale solar projects that are grid-connected. With worldwide expertise in project development in Europe, Asia, and North America, the business has turned its focus to New Jersey and is supporting the Governor’s ambitious Energy Master Plan. This plan calls for the use of 100 percent clean energy by 2050.
