DTEK Group, a Ukrainian energy investor, will soon complete the first phase of Ukraine’s Tyligulska wind power project. The first phase of the wind power facility, located in the Mykolaiv region, has a capacity of 114 MW, while the whole project will have a capacity of 500 MW. The facility’s Phase I includes 19 wind turbines and is intended to help Ukraine’s energy balance.

Ukraine has a target to install 30 GW of installed renewable energy capacity in the country by the end of this decade. The current renewable energy capacity in the country is 10 GW. 30 GW of renewables would mean 50 per cent of the country’s energy could be powered by clean energy.

DTEK Group is a part of Ukraine’s System Capital Management (SCM) Group, a significant financial and industrial holding company. The company also stated that it intends to complete the project’s remaining planned capacity, as well as secure options for its further implementation.

REGlobal’s Views: While the project was put on hold temporarily due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the construction has started again and the project is expected to be commissioned by spring 2023. This project will significantly help the country to increase its energy security which has been severely impacted by the current conflict.
