EDF Renewable Energy—a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles—has recently proposed a solar plus storage project, called Rich Road Solar, in upstate New York. The construction of the 240 MW solar plant, along with the 20 MW/80 MWh battery energy storage will begin in late 2023.

The project is subject to approval, and currently is in an exploration stage, with aerial photographs scheduled for the fall of 2021, and civil engineering planned for the upcoming winter.

The construction of the project will end in 2025.

However, before the project is commissioned, the 78-mile (126-km) Moses─Adirondack line, constructed by the federal government in 1942, will need to be rebuilt. This phase is slated to be completed in 2023.
