Enel Green Power España is executing three solar PV plants – Veracruz, Puerta Palmas and El Doblón between Mérida and Almendralejo in the Extremadura region located in western Spain. The entire project being built at an investment of around 96 million euros is under construction and is expected to come into operation in December 2021. The total project capacity is 150 MW with each individual solar plant having an installed capacity of around 50 MW made up of bifacial solar panels.

Extremadura receives one of the highest numbers of daily sunshine hours in the country, making it a focus region for Enel Green Power España. Thus, the company is implementing five additional solar PV projects in this region – the Apicio, Beturia, Nertobriga, Ardila and Cincinato facilities. These solar plants located between Fregenal de la Sierra and Bodonal de la Sierra will have a total installed capacity of roughly 250 MW and will be built at an overall investment of around 170 million euros.
