Israel has received 11 bids to finance, build, and manage a 300 MW solar power project with energy storage in the southern part of the country. According to the government, the project proposed for Dimona will be a public-private partnership and will be one of Israel’s largest solar power plants. The chosen developer will be in charge of the solar power plant’s development, funding, construction, and operation. Construction is anticipated to be finished by the end of 2024.

The newest contract is one of a succession of solar farms being constructed as the Energy Ministry seeks additional solar output and storage to fulfil government objectives of 30 precent renewable energy generation by 2030. Companies from the United States, Norway, Spain, and France were among the 11 bidding groups. The tender committee will finish the bidding procedure over the following three months.

To meet national renewable energy goals, Israel has simplified licencing requirements for solar installations at fish ponds, interchanges, and other locations.  Earlier this month, Netivei Israel – National Transport Infrastructure Company issued a tender to award solar projects at three highway interchanges.
