Origis Energy, a US renewables platform, has begun working on a 200 MW solar farm at the site of a previous coal-powered plant near Grants, New Mexico. Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, a cooperative engaged in the supply of wholesale electricity, is the beneficiary of the Escalante Solar Project. It will make enough electricity to run around 40,000 households using nearly about 500,000 modules.

Furthermore, the project, which has already signed a power purchase agreement for its output, is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2024. Moreover, Gridworks will be supplying the site with construction services. TurningPoint Energy, which originally developed the project, sold the development rights to Origis. After construction is finished, the company will offer operation and maintenance services.

In December 2022, Origis Energy granted Mitsubishi Power Americas a contract to provide three utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a combined capacity of 150 MW/600 MWh. The Mitsubishi Power Emerald storage system was installed at three Origis Energy solar photovoltaic projects in the Southeast US that are set to be online within the next two years. The BESS projects anticipated to increase the sites’ capacity once they are installed.
