SEE Institute, the research and development arm of Sharjah Sustainable City, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with German-based Hager Group to test and deploy smart energy solutions in Sharjah. The agreement will give the citizens access to renewable energy storage, making Sharjah Sustainable City the first in the region to have access to renewable energy storage solutions.

Transition to renewable energy is crucial towards achieving net zero carbon emissions. Sharjah Sustainable City aims to be a leader in renewable energy and achieve a low carbon future. Partnerships and knowledge sharing can provide a big push towards achieving this goal. The partnership with the Hager Group is expected to allow Sharjah Sustainable City to maximise its possible energy efficiencies and achieve lower energy intensities in its development. New innovative solutions and energy storage systems can go a long way in shaping the future of sustainable cities.
