India’s installed renewable energy capacity has reached 150.05 GW (including hydro). Furthermore, projects with a total capacity of 63.64 GW are in various phases of execution, while projects with a total capacity of 32.06 GW are in various stages of bidding. As a result, a total of 245.70 GW of capacity has been installed or is in various phases of development/bidding.

Amazon announces 18 renewable energy projects globally

Amazon has announced 18 new utility-scale wind and solar energy projects in the United States, Finland, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom, totaling 5.6 GW of capacity procured as of 2021. Amazon, currently has 274 renewable energy projects throughout the world and plans to use renewable energy to power 100 per cent of its commercial operations by 2025, five years ahead of its original 2030 target.

Germany plans to increase its renewable energy share to 80 per cent by 2030

The Social Democrats (SPD), Alliance 90 (The Greens), and Free Democrats (FDP) of Germany, have entered into an agreement on a coalition contract that commits Germany to phase out coal-fired power generation by 2030, two months after the general election. The coalition partners also intend to expand the share of renewable energy to 80 per cent by 2030.

Indian Oil invites bids for green hydrogen projects at its refineries

State-owned Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has invited Expression of Interest to set up green hydrogen generation units at two of its refineries – Mathura, Uttar Pradesh and Panipat, Haryana. The plants will have installed capacities of 5,000 MT per annum and 2,000 MT per annum, respectively, and will be built on a ‘build-own-operate’ (BOO) basis.
