Swedish Investor Trine has announced an investment of Euro 5 million in Solarise Africa, a South African commercial solar leasing firm. Statkraft to donate $2.7 million for solar power in Africa

Statkraft, a European renewable energy producer, will collaborate with the international development organisation SolarAid to alleviate energy poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa using solar electricity. Statkraft will donate $2.7 million in cash and equipment to SolarAid over that time. The funds will be used to provide clean, safe, and easy solar lighting to ensure that all households, schools, and clinics in the region have access to electricity by 2030.

Phanes begins construction of 21 MWp solar power park in Malawi

Phanes Group and its partner responsAbility Renewable Energy Holding (rAREH) have announced that it has begun construction of the 21 MWp Nkhotakota solar power park in Malawi. The companies will sell the electricity to the state-owned Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi under a 20-year power purchase agreement. The second phase of the project will increase the capacity of the solar PV plant to 37 MWp.

Burkina Faso to develop 30 MW solar park with EAIF funding

Burkina Faso, in West Africa, has announced that it will develop a solar power plant 250 km southeast of the nation’s capital city of Ouagadougou, near the town of Pâ. The new solar energy plant will have an installed capacity of 30 MW and will sell power to Burkina Faso’s national power utility, La Société National D’électricité Du Burkina Faso (SONABEL). The Project includes string inverters and monocrystalline modules and will be connected to the grid via a 2km cable to a nearby sub-station.
