The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has awarded Tetra Tech, California-based consulting and engineering services firm, a five-year USD 29.7 million contract for the continuation of its Scaling Up Renewable Energy project (SURE II). Under SURE II, Tetra Tech will provide technical services to promote reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solutions to increase adoption of renewable and other advanced energy technologies. With the funds, Tetra Tech may work towards creating programs to integrate renewable energy with the existing power grids and to improve national strategic energy planning. Moreover, Tetra Tech will support the development of a fund which will promote the uptake of renewables by different companies.

Previously, Tetra Tech has worked with USAID and 20 partner countries under the SURE I project. This project was involved with the integration of new renewable energy technologies, promotion of competitive procurement of renewable energy generation, development of progressive energy policies, and advancement of gender equality in the energy sector.
