WPD and World Kinect Energy Services have signed a route-to-market PPA for the 188 MW Karhunnevankangas Wind Farm project in Finland. World Kinect will continue to provide value to renewable energy providers as well as customers looking to accelerate their transition to renewable energy through this initiative. When completed in 2022, the project will have a total capacity of 188 MW and it will be situated in the Österbotten region of western Finland.

The Karhunnevankangas wind farm will be constructed with 33 Nordex 5.7 MW turbines and will provide close to 600 GWh of CO2-free power per year when completed at the end of 2022. World Kinect Energy Services won the contract because of its experience in the region and in the energy sector, as well as its competitive terms. During the term of the agreement, it will operate as a partner in charge of routing the physical output of the wind farm, as well as dynamically routing and shaping the power production towards the market and WPD’s Finnish clients.

Through its national company WPD Finland Oy, WPD Europe already has four wind farms in the country, with a pipeline of roughly 1,000 MW of projects in various stages. The Karhunnevankangas project demonstrates how WPD has effectively established itself as a competent and dependable partner on the Finnish energy market, particularly in the direct selling of projects with PPAs.
