Thyssenkrupp Nucera and H2 Green Steel to partner for electrolysis plant

Thyssenkrupp Nucera, a German-Italian joint venture, will supply H2 Green Steel, a Swedish renewable energy steel start-up, with more than 700 MW of water electrolysis capacity. More than 30 electrolysers will be installed in Europe’s first commercial green steel mill in Boden, Sweden. With the addition of the electrolysers, the Boden facility will become the first in the world to have a gigawatt-scale production capacity. It will be facilitated by Thyssenkrupp Nucera’s “scalum” model alkaline water electrolysis modules.

Enel selects Oklahoma for solar PV cell and module production

Enel North America, through its affiliate 3Sun USA, has selected Inola, Oklahoma, as the site for its proposed solar photovoltaic (PV) cell and panel production facility. The manufacturing plant, which is more than two million square feet in size, will have a 3 GW annual production capacity by 2025. The facility’s construction is scheduled to start in the autumn of 2023.

NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) has announced that, following the signing of financial documents with 23 local, regional, and international banks, and investment firms, it has now achieved financial close on the world’s largest green hydrogen production facility at a total investment value of $8.4 billion. Australia and the US announce green energy and mineral compact

Australia and the US have announced a bilateral agreement to collaborate on legislation to aid the green energy transition in both countries with a new compact. The Climate, Critical Minerals, and Clean Energy Transformation Compact will see the two countries adopt shared energy goals and policies. This will in effect allow Australian green businesses to benefit from subsidies and protections provided to US companies under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Masdar to develop 2 GW clean energy projects in Uzbekistan

Masdar, a UAE-based energy company, has inked a joint development agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade to develop 2 GW of renewable energy and 500 MWh of solar, wind, and battery storage projects across the Central Asian country. With 7 GW of solar and 5 GW of wind capacity, Uzbekistan aims to achieve 25 per cent of its energy needs from renewables by 2030.

Statkraft secures two PPAs totalling 76 MW in Europe

Statkraft has signed two power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Sonnedix and BayWa r.e. in Europe totaling 76 MW. Statkraft secured a 34 MW solar PPA for two solar projects developed by Sonnedix in Italy, as well as a 42 MW wind PPA with BayWa r.e. in Scotland, UK. It will provide 48 GWh of green electricity in Italy, enough to power 18,000 homes and prevent 12,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

Holosolis to construct 5 GW solar PV module assembly plant in France

Holosolis, a French renewables firm formed by EU independent body EIT InnoEnergy, has announced intentions to build a 5 GW solar photovoltaic (PV) module assembly plant in northeast France. The facility will start producing its first modules in 2025, and by 2027, it will be operating at its full 5 GW capacity. It will be located at Sarreguemine in northeast France, close to the country’s border with Germany.

Octopus Energy buys 49 MW of wind projects in France

Octopus Energy, a UK-based renewable energy company, has committed to invest in three wind farms in France with a total capacity of 49MW. Octopus made the investment as part of its plan to invest $1.09 billion in the French green energy industry between 2023 and 2025. The three wind farms, Croix Erable, Bertaut, and Le Langrois, will provide enough clean energy to power 30,000 French households. The projects will be located in the Vienne and Haute Marne regions of France and are currently under construction. They are anticipated to commence operations in 2023 and 2024.

Bruc acquires eight solar power assets from Opdenergy

Bruc, a Spanish renewable energy firm, has completed the purchase of eight new solar photovoltaic (PV) power producing units from Opdenergy. The projects have a total capacity of 444 MW. SSE Renewables to build 150 MW energy storage project in UK

SSE Renewables, a Scottish energy company, has made a final investment decision to build a battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the UK. This second BESS project by SSE, with a capacity of 150 MW/300 MWh, will be built in west Yorkshire, England, on the site of the former Ferrybridge coal-fired power plant. Apex and Powin to build two energy storage projects in Texas

EnfraGen, Partners Group to buy 188 MW of assets in Central America

EnfraGen, a Glenfarne Energy Transition company, and Partners Group have reached a deal with Celsia to buy six renewable assets in Panama and Costa Rica totaling 188 MW. Grupo Argos is the parent company of Celsia, a Colombian electricity company. The Dos Mares Hydro Complex, which consists of three run-of-river downstream hydropower units in Panama with a combined capacity of 119 MW, is included in the transaction.

ERG to acquire a 149 MW Spanish solar plant from ib vogt

ERG Spain, a subsidiary of energy company ERG, has agreed to buy Garnacha Solar, a 149 MW solar plant, from ib vogt’s subsidiary IBV Solar Parks. ERG stated that the transaction was valued at around €170 million, with an equity value of €80.5 million. By the third quarter of 2023, the transaction is anticipated to be completed. The 149 MW solar facility is being built in Castilla and León, in northwest Spain, and is currently at an advanced level of development.

CIP divests two US onshore wind farms to TC Energy

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has reached an agreement with TC Energy to sell two of its US onshore wind farms in Texas for an undisclosed sum. CIP has agreed to sell the Blue Cloud and Fluvanna I wind farms through its Copenhagen Infrastructure II K/S fund. Located in Scurry County, Fluvanna I is a 155 MW project that has been operational since 2017. The 148 MW Blue Cloud wind farm opened in 2018 in Bailey and Lamb Counties.

European Commission and CDP give $110 million to Eni for EV networks

The European Commission and the Italian bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) will provide more than $110.1 million to Italian oil and gas producer Eni for the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging networks. The funds will go to Be Charge, an Eni-owned company. The company stated in a statement that the funds will be used to build a high-speed charging network for EVs. Reportedly, the network, currently slated for operation by 2025, would become one of the largest in Europe.
