Engie has partnered with Google to build an artificial intelligence (AI)-based wind energy solution. Under the agreement, Engie and Google Cloud’s AI Services and Industry Solutions (AIIS) will collaborate to develop a solution that can predict the price and quantity of wind power to be sold in the market.

To assist decision-making, the AI solution will use a performant and scalable data system as well as advanced machine learning algorithms. The project, once completed, is expected to benefit wind facilities across the world by improving forecasting capabilities through artificial intelligence.

In November 2021, Engie and Crédit Agricole Assurances agreed to acquire 97.33 per cent stake in Eolia Renovables, a Spanish renewable energy provider. The deal covers 821 MW of onshore wind capacity, 78 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity, and a 1.2 GW pipeline of renewable projects as part of the acquisition.
