One of India’s major renewable energy producers, Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), has surpassed 10 GW of operational renewable energy installations. This large portfolio consists of 7,393 MW solar, 1,401 MW wind and 2,140 MW wind-solar hybrid capacity. Out of these total deployments, 2,848 MW of capacity was brought online in the Indian financial year 2023-24.

Reportedly, this 10,934 MW of capacity will be used to power more than 5.8 million homes. Further, it will avoid about 21 million tonnes of carbon emissions on a yearly basis. The company has further plans of installing a total of 45 GW renewable energy by 2030 and is already implementing a large 30 GW renewable energy park in Khavda, in the state of Gujarat in order to achieve this goal.

AGEL develops, owns, and operates large utility scale grid-connected solar, wind and hybrid renewable power plants, and currently has a total portfolio of 21.8 GW, divided between under implementation and operational projects. Its impressive 10.9 GW operational renewable energy portfolio is spread across 12 states.

REGlobal’s Views: Much of AGEL’s renewable energy installations have occurred in less than a decade and the company has ambitious plans in the renewables space. To support its overall renewable energy vision, it is also investing significantly in solar manufacturing, which will help make the company secure in terms of its supply chains. Further, its investments in the green hydrogen and transmission spaces will help create ready demand and transport for the renewable energy it produces.
