Acciona to float IPO for its renewable energy subsidiary in Spain

Acciona SA has announced its intention to float its renewables subsidiary, Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA, or Acciona Energia, on domestic stock exchanges. The company reported that the registration document for the initial public offering process has been approved by Spanish market regulator CNMV. Acciona Energia will be listed under the ticker symbol ANE and trade its shares on the Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Valencia stock exchanges.

Portugal to auction 500 MW of floating solar capacity

Portugal announced that it would conduct its third solar auction in September as it looks to allocate 500 MW of floating solar capacity. Through the current tender, which resulted in record-low prices, the country aims to support the deployment of floating solar on at least seven reservoirs through its next tender process. The proposed plants will be located next to hydropower plants so that existing grid infrastructure can be used. One of the selected dams, Alto Rabagão, already hosts a 220 kWp floating solar pilot project developed by EDP.

Switzerland creates $521 million fund for solar rebates in 2021

The Swiss Federal Council has allocated CHF 470 million ($521 million) for solar rebates in 2021. Of the total amount, CHF 270 million will be for small systems with an output of less than 100 kW while the remaining amount will be for large systems exceeding 100 kW. The one-time remuneration covers around 20 per cent of the investment costs, depending on the system performance.

Equinor and Eni to form a partnership for offshore wind in the North Sea

Equinor and Eni have announced a plan to collaborate on the development of floating offshore wind plants in the North Sea as part of their expansion within renewable energy production. The Norwegian government has earmarked two areas in the North Sea for developing 4.5 GW of floating and bottom-fixed wind turbine capacity and plans. A discussion is set to take place in the Norwegian parliament by next month.

BBVA to finance 725 MWp of solar projects by Opdenergy

Opdenergy has closed an underwriting mandate with BBVA for the financing of the development, construction, and commissioning of its portfolio solar projects in Spain, with a total expected installed power of approximately 725 MW for Euro 500 million. Of the total, the energy company indicated that up to Euro 76 million would be allocated to guarantees linked to long-term contracts (PPAs) and up to Euro 20 million to guarantees related to the usual reserve accounts in this type of operation.

Blue Elephant looks to install 500 MWp of solar projects in Germany

German solar and wind power utility, Blue Elephant Energy AG (BEE) have announced the signing of a development cooperation deal for a 500 MWp solar portfolio in Germany. The deal was signed with another German renewables developer and operator, Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen GmbH & Co KG (UKA) who will assist the project development until it reaches a ready-to-build stage. Once the projects are completed, they will be a part of BEE’s asset portfolio.The portfolio is made up of 11 projects in an advanced development stage, with the first solar farms expected to be completed in early 2023

Neoen launches Euro 600 Mn rights issue to finance renewable energy goals

French renewable energy developer, Neoen has launched a Euro 600 million share rights issue to help finance the company’s Euro 5 billion investment plan. The company aims to build a renewable energy portfolio of 10GW in operation or under construction by 2025. The net proceeds from the issuance of the new shares will go into financing its new assets as part of a first investment cycle which will end by 2022.

EDP plans Euro 24 billion investment to double its wind and solar portfolio by 2025

EDP renewables have announced that it will invest Euro 24 billion towards doubling its solar and wind capacity from 12 GW to 25 GW by 2025. With this goal, the company also aims to be coal-free by 2025 and completely source power from green energy in 2030 by expanding its renewable energy portfolio to 50 GW. The company also intends to increase its solar generation capacity ten-fold.

Falck commissions 74 MW wind farm in Sweden

Falck Renewables has that it has connected its 74.1 MW Brattmyrliden wind farm in Sweden to the grid. The project is located in the Ornskoldsvik municipality and is set to generate 263.5 GWh annually which will power about 52,700 homes in the country. The project is owned by Falck Renewables’ subsidiary Brattmyrliden Vind AB and consists of 19 N133 wind turbines supplied by Nordex SE. The turbines are currently in the final testing phase before it reaches full commercial operations by the end of June 2021.

EDF and Windvision secure 226 MW of onshore wind capacity in France

EDF Renewables and its partner, Windvision have announced that they have secured a 226MW project in France’s latest auction for onshore wind projects. The wind farm known as the ‘ Mont des Quatre Faux project’ will be located near Rethel, in the Ardennes department of France’s Grand Est region. It will be spread across seven municipalities and will be built at an estimated cost of Euro 250 million. Once running, the project will be equipped to fuel the power needs of around 250,000 people.

Spain allocates 3 GW of renewable energy in latest auction

Spain has announced the allocation of about 3 GW of renewable energy capacity in its first renewable energy auction since 2017. The auction was conducted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and witness the awarding of 2 GW of solar capacity. Additionally, the Ministry also allotted about 1 GW of wind energy under the auction. The winning bidders must complete the solar projects by February 2023 and wind projects by February 2024.

TenneT to invite bids for development of grid network for offshore wind projects in Germany and Netherlands

Dutch transmission systems operator, TenneT has announced that it will launch tenders for the development of grid connections with a transmission capacity of 2 GW. The project will ensure supporting infrastructure for the upcoming offshore wind projects in Europe. Under the first tender, transmission infrastructure for at least two projects will be developed in the Ijmuiden Ver wind area in the Netherlands which will be operational in 2028 and 2029. The following tenders will cover the BalWin 1 which will be operational in 2029 and also the BalWin 2 and BalWin 3 which will be operational by 2030.

Lightsource BP acquires 1.06 GW of solar projects in Spain

Lightsource BP has announced the acquisition of a portfolio consisting of 1.06 GW of solar projects in Spain from RIC Energy. Additionally, the sales agreement specifies a partnership with RIC Energy to develop solar projects in 14 sites across Madrid, Andalusia, and Castile and Leon. The first batch of projects is projected to reach ready-to-build status by the end of 2021 and be commissioned between 2022 and 2025.

French energy giant Engie and ndependent power producer Neoen have announced plans to develop Europe’s largest solar-plus-storage plant . The project, “Horizeo” will have a installed capacity of 1 GW and include a green hydrogen production unit, an agrivoltaic plant, and a data center. It is estimated to cost Euro 1 billion and will be managed by French energy regulator CRE.
