Vestas has partnered with the German renewable energy developer, wpd AG, for three wind farm projects with a cumulative capacity of 50 MW in Taiwan. These include Chuangwei 2, Leadway 2 and Hsinyuan wind farms. The Chuangwei 2 wind farm will comprise four V117-4.2 MW turbines with 91.5 m towers. Leadway 2 farm will have two of the same turbines. The Hsinyuan wind farm will be installed with six V136-4.2 MW turbines with 112 m towers. This farm would feature the largest onshore turbine rotors in Taiwan, which are expected to maximise energy production, given the medium wind conditions at the turbine site.
Following this partnership, Vestas’ total onshore installation orders in Taiwan will exceed more than 330 MW. Of this, over 110 MW has been in collaboration with wpd. To safeguard optimal performance and certainty in long term business case for customers, a long term Active Output Management 4000 service agreement for the wind farms has also been signed. The projects are expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2022, following the deliveries which are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2022.
Vestas has more than 140 GW of wind turbines in 85 countries. Recently, Vestas Wind System A/S also won a 396 MW contract for Rye Park Wind Farm in New South Wales, Australia and a 126 MW order for the Isoneva project in Finland.
wpd is actively engaged in installing wind and solar farms across 28 countries around the world. The company has installed wind energy projects including 2,400 wind turbines with an output of 5,150 MW. It further aims to install 12,300 MW, 13,800 MW and 1,650 MWp of onshore wind, offshore wind and solar energy projects respectively.
