Koch Strategic Platforms (KSP), a subsidiary of Koch Investments Group, has made a $150 million investment in GameChange Solar Holdings Corp, a major US producer of racking and tracker systems for utility-scale solar power plants, to support the company’s strategic development goals. As per the company’s press release, the preferred stock investment, if converted, would represent a minority stake in GameChange.

Supply chain constraints hit solar power costs in US

Ongoing supply chain constraints and commodity price increases began to have a significant impact on solar prices during the second quarter of 2021. The most significant price increases have come from higher input costs (steel, aluminum, etc.) and elevated freight costs. Rooftop solar to roll out on China’s public buildings

At the end of 2020, distributed solar accounted for about 78 GW (30%) of the 253 GW of China’s installed solar generation capacity, according to data from the country’s National Energy Administration. Growth in distributed solar appears to be picking up in proportion to growth in solar farms. In the first half of this year, about 13 GW of new solar power capacity was installed, 7.65 GW of that distributed solar.

Uzbekistan commissions its first utility-scale solar plant of 100 MW

Uzbekistan has commissioned its first utility-scale solar plant of 100 MW. The plant has been developed by UAE’s Masdar. To build the project, Masdar signed an agreement with the government of Uzbekistan and JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan in 2019. A local project company, Nur Navoi Solar FE LLC, was established by Masdar to deliver the solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, and to operate and maintain it over a 25-year period.

Legendre Energie to construct 50 MWp solar power plant in Mali

Legendre Energie has signed a 25-year concession contract with the Malian Ministry of Economy and Finance and Energy for the Fana solar power project. The solar project will be built under the BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) model. The plant would have a capacity of 50 MWp and will be located near Bamako capital, Diola Circle.
