Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has launched bids for the development of 1.2 GW of solar projects in the Indian state of Karnataka on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. The request for selection (RFS) is part of the interstate transmission system (ISTS) (tranche X) tariff-based competitive bidding cycle.
The projects will be integrated at two selected substations in Gadag and Koppal, with each substation having a capacity of 600 MW. SECI will enter into 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the winning bidders. The power will be sold to various companies around the country.
The minimum bid capacity is 50 MW, while the maximum bid capacity is the full 1.2 GW on offer. All projects must be quoted in multiples of 10 MW. SECI will have a pre-bid meeting on July 26, 2021, with the deadline for bid submissions in early September. Within six months of the contracts being granted, Karnataka Solar Power Development Corp. Ltd. would give the winning bidders with the land necessary for the projects for durations that at least cover the whole length of the PPAs.
