Enel Green Power signs 220 MW PPAs with Air Liquide and Sasol in South Africa

Enel Green Power (EGP), a subsidiary of the Italian energy firm Enel Group, has signed 220 MW power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Air Liquide and Sasol in South Africa. The largest oxygen production facility in the world, operated by Air Liquide at Sasol’s Secunda location, will begin receiving renewable energy from EGP in 2025. The renewable energy will be supplied by EGP’s two wind farms in the Eastern Cape, which can generate more than 800 GWh of clean energy annually when combined.

Enel Green Power España launches 180 MW wind farm in Spain

Enel Green Power España (EGPE), a subsidiary of Endesa, has connected its 180 MW Tico Wind farm in Spain to the country’s energy grid. The Tico Wind project, which is in Villar de los Navarros, Zaragoza, entails a $193 million investment. It can generate 471 GWh of green electricity per year and displace 192,200 tonnes of carbon emissions a year.

Enel Green Power to set up a 3 GW solar panel factory in Italy

Enel Green Power (EGP), an Italian renewable energy company, has secured a grant agreement with the European Commission to build a solar panel gigafactory. The facility will be developed in EGP’s 3Sun solar panel factory in Catania, Sicily, and will be known as the Italian PV GigaFactory (TANGO). The EGP will invest $659 million in the capacity expansion, with almost $129 million from EU funding.

Enel Green Power ventures into Green Hydrogen in Chile

Enel Green Power has launched a pilot plant for the production of green hydrogen in Chile. The project is Chile’s first industrial-scale production plant of green hydrogen. The plant is located at Cabo Negro north of Punta Arenas and has a capacity of 1.25 MW. It will produce green hydrogen through electrolysis powered by a 3.4 MW wind turbine. The project also makes Enel Green Power’s first venture of green hydrogen to start construction globally. The plant is likely to be operational by 2022.

Enel Green Power announces commercial operation for 716 MW wind farm in Brazil

Enel Green Power has announced the launch of commercial operations of its 716 MW Lagoa dos Ventos wind farm in Brazil. The project was developed at an estimated investment of BRL 3 billion ($592 million) by the company’s subsidiary, Enel Green Power Brasil Participacoes Ltd. The plant is located in Brazil’s north-eastern state of Piaui and is equipped with 230 turbines which are expected to generate more than 3.3 TWh of electricity annually.

Enel Green develops 1.5 GW of renewable projects in the United States

Enel has begun developing five new renewable energy projects in the United States with a combined capacity of 1.5 GW along with 319 MW of battery storage. These projects include Roseland solar plus storage, Blue Jay solar plus storage, Ranchland wind plus storage, Alta Farms wind project and Rockhaven wind project. These projects will be located in Texas, Illinois, and Oklahoma. In addition to these Enel will also set up 57 MW battery storage systems at the High Lonesome wind farm and Roadrunner solar farm.

Enel Green and Saras collaborate to develop a green hydrogen project

Enel Green Power and Saras signed an agreement to develop a green hydrogen project in Sardinia. The project involves a 20 MW electrolyzer which will be powered by renewable energy produced onsite. The green hydrogen produced by the electrolyzer will be used as a raw material in the Saras refinery at the Sarroch industrial site in the province of Cagliari.

Enel and QIA form a joint venture to develop renewable energy projects in south-Saharan Africa

Enel Green Power, a subsidiary of the Italian energy giant, Enel, has announced that it has signed a joint venture partnership with the Qatar Investment Authority to develop and exploit renewable energy resources in countries south of Saharan-Africa. Under the agreement, QIA will acquire a 50 per cent stake in four projects which are under construction and being developed by Enel Green Power in South Africa. Further, they will also acquire two operating plants in South Africa and in Zambia which will take the total acquired capacity to 800 MW.

Enel and Qatar Investment Authority partner for renewable energy development in Sub-Saharan Africa

Enel Green Power (EGP) signed an agreement to form a joint venture with a subsidiary of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) aimed at financing, building and operating renewable projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. As part of this agreement QIA will also acquire 50 per cent of EGP’s stake in approximately 800 MW of projects in South Africa and Zambia under the first phase.

Enel Green Power commissions 140 MW wind project in South Africa

Enel Green Power has commissioned its 140MW Nxuba wind farm in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province. The wind farm was constructed with an estimated investment of Euro 200m wind farm and is under a 20-year power supply agreement with Eskom. The project is expected to generate 460 GWh of energy a year and expected to reduce CO2 emissions to the extent of 460,000 tonnes annually.
