Microsoft signs wind PPA with Potentia and Greengate in Canada

Microsoft has partnered with Potentia and Greengate on the Paintearth Wind project in Canada under a power purchase agreement (PPA). Microsoft will purchase approximately 543 GWh of renewable energy per year from the wind facility in Alberta’s Paintearth County as part of the 15-year PPA. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

GridStor buys 500 MW energy storage projects in LA

GridStor, a company that develops and manages grid-scale battery energy storage systems, has purchased a portfolio of storage projects from Upstream Energy of San Diego that are currently being built in the greater Los Angeles area. The portfolio comprises numerous projects with anticipated online dates between 2024 and 2026, totaling more than 500 MW/2,000 MWh of capacity, or enough energy to power 375,000 California homes.
