New York has launched bulk energy storage request for proposals (RFP). The initiative aims to procure 1 GW of bulk energy storage as a part of the state’s 6 GW energy storage roadmap. The solicitation is being administered by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) via its Bulk Energy Storage Program. Scale Microgrids secures $275 million financing for renewable energy projects in US

Scale Microgrids has closed $275 million in new project financing, bringing the total financing raised by the company to over $1 billion. The financing will support 140 MW of distributed generation projects, including the company’s community-scale solar and storage and battery storage installations. Equinor, bp bid to expand offshore wind project off New York

Equinor and BP have joined forces to bid in New York’s third offshore wind solicitation (NY3), having submitted a request to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The companies will compete in the NYSERDA auction for the Beacon Wind II lease area, which has more than 1.3 GW of potential clean energy capacity. Beacon Wind II, located 60 miles from the Long Island coast, has the capacity to provide clean energy to over one million homes in New York while creating ‘thousands’ of employment in the region.

New York starts construction of 1.2 GW power transmission line

The Government of New York State has started construction of the 339-mile Champlain Hudson Power Express transmission line from Hydro-Québec in Canada to New York City (NYC). The project, which is being developed by Transmission Developers, will deliver 1.2 GW of clean energy from Hydro-Québec to NYC.

Hecate Energy receives approval for 500 MW solar farm in New York

The New York State Office of Renewable Energy Siting has granted a siting permit to US-based renewable energy company Hecate Energy for its Cider Solar Farm. The 500 MW solar farm, which spans about 3,000 acres across the towns of Elba and Oakfield, is claimed to be the largest solar energy project in New York State. By the end of 2023, construction work at the site is anticipated to begin.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has awarded EDF Renewables North America a 1 GW solar and battery storage contract as part of its 2021 solicitation for large-scale renewable energy certificates. Equinor, BP partner to develop offshore wind projects in New York

Equinor, a Norwegian energy company, has partnered with BP to transform the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal (SBMT) complex in New York into a regional hub for offshore wind. The companies plan to develop the facility into an offshore wind port to accommodate their 3.3 GW of East Coast offshore wind projects.
