Qualitas Energy to acquire Cero Generation’s 5.8 GW European clean energy platform

Qualitas Energy has signed an agreement to acquire Cero Generation’s European platform from Macquarie Group. Cero Generation, established by Macquarie in 2021, is an independent power producer focused on solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. Cero Generation will continue operating under its existing brand as an independent Qualitas Energy portfolio company.

BW ESS acquires 675 MWh BESS projects in Spain

BW ESS has acquired two standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects from Navacant in Spain. The projects, located in the Valencia region, have storage capacities of 99 MW and 27 MW, respectively. Together, the projects have a combined capacity of 126 MW/up to 675 MWh. Furthermore, the projects are expected to reach ready-to-build status in 2027 with commercial operations targeted for 2028.

Niger signs PPP agreement to develop 200 MW solar with BESS project

The Government of Niger has entered into a public-private partnership (PPP) with Niger Electricity Power Production (NEPP) to develop a 200 MW solar photovoltaic plant with battery energy storage system (BESS) in Niamey. The project represents an investment of 126.1 billion CFA francs. Project construction and financial mobilisation are expected to take approximately 24 months.

Blueleaf Energy and Universal Peak Sdn Bhd have achieved financial close with UOB for a utility-scale battery energy storage (BESS) project in Malaysia. The project will have an installed capacity of 100 MW/400 MWh. Project construction will commence under a build, own, and operate model. Universal Peak will support the project as a turnkey provider of electrical infrastructure solutions. The project is expected to be commissioned in mid-2027.

Monarch completes solar-plus-storage projects in Texas

Monarch Private Capital announced completion of two hybrid solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in Texas, developed by Sunraycer Renewables, for which it provided tax equity financing. The projects include the Midpoint solar project located in Hill County and the Gaia solar project located in Navarro County. Furthermore, the Midpoint project comprises 127.05 MWdc of solar capacity and a 50 MW/100 MWh BESS while the Gaia project comprises 183.84 MWdc of solar capacity and a 75 MW/150 MWh BESS.

ENGIE commissions 251 MW BESS projects in Chile

ENGIE has commenced commercial operations for two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Chile. The projects include the Libélula and Los Loros BESS, adding a combined 251 MW of storage capacity to the National Electric System. With the addition of these projects, ENGIE’s operational BESS portfolio in Chile has reached 663 MW. Furthermore, the Libélula project, located in the Metropolitan Region, includes a 203 MW/1,034 MWh five-hour duration BESS along with a 140 MW solar plant comprising 245,560 solar panels.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Copenhagen Infrastructure V fund, has acquired the Gawara Baya hybrid project located in North Queensland, Australia. The project was acquired from Windlab. The project combines a 408 MW onshore wind farm comprising 68 wind turbines with a 104 MW grid-forming battery energy storage system (BESS). Commercial operations for the project are expected in 2030.

Return and Vattenfall sign agreement for 800 MWh BESS in Netherlands

Return and Vattenfall have signed a long-term agreement for the 200 MW/800 MWh Sirius battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in Winschoten, Groningen, Netherlands. The project is being delivered by Huawei, Hanab and Omexom, covering battery technology, construction and installation. Under the agreement, Vattenfall will secure access to the project’s charging, storage and power delivery capacity in exchange for a fixed fee.

Sungrow has started construction of a battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Egypt with an annual production capacity of 10 GWh. Avantus has closed a $300 million tax equity commitment from Truist Bank for the Aratina 2 project located in Kern County, California. The financing supplements more than $525 million in construction financing secured from BBVA, CIBC and Santander in July 2026.
