Ford and EDF sign upto 4 GWh BESS supply agreement

Ford Motor Company, a subsidiary of Ford Energy andEDF Power Solutions North America have signed a five-year framework agreement for large-scale battery energy storage (BESS) procurement in US. Under the agreement, EDF may procure up to 4 GWh of DC Block BESS annually from Ford Energy. The partnership represents a total potential deployment volume of up to 20 GWh over the five-year term.

SEG announces 4 GW solar module factory in US

SEG Solar has announced plans to establish a 4 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Houston, US. The facility represents an investment of more than $200 million, expanding SEG’s total annual US solar module production capacity to approximately 6 GW. The facility is expected to commence operations in the third quarter of 2026. Furthermore, the expansion follows SEG’s plans for a 5 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Indonesia, strengthening its fully integrated solar supply chain across ingots, wafers, and cells.

New York launches a new onshore renewable energy tender

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has launched the 10th annual Renewable Energy Standard solicitation, RESRFP26-1, to accelerate clean energy deployment across New York. The solicitation, issued on April 24, 2026, seeks Tier 1-eligible renewable energy certificates (RECs) from projects with a near-term path to commercial operation. The procurement process will follow a two-step structure comprising a step one eligibility application and a step two competitive bid proposal process.

Vestas bags 186 MW wind turbine order in Québec

Vestas has secured a 186 MW turbine order from EDF Power Solutions North America for the Forêt Domaniale Wind Project. The order includes 28 EnVentus V162-6.2 MW wind turbines and 2 EnVentus V162-6.0 MW along with a 10-year AOM 5000 service agreement. Turbine delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2027, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2027.

CIP commences construction on 300 MW BESS project in Chile

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has issued the final notice to proceed (FNTP) for the Patache BESS project, marking its official construction. The project is located in Iquique, Chile. The project has a 300 MW/1,500 MWh capacity. The project is being managed through CIP’s Growth Markets Fund II. The project builds on CIP’s 1,100 MWh Arena BESS project in the Antofagasta region.

Suniva plans a 4.5 GW solar cell factory in South Carolina

Suniva plans to establish a 4.5 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Laurens, South Carolina. The facility is expected to open in the second quarter of 2027. The 620,000 sq. ft. facility represents an investment of over $350 million which along with Suniva’s existing Atlanta facility will raise the company’s total U.S. solar cell manufacturing capacity to over 5.5 GW annually.

Dimension Energy secures $650 million for US community solar portfolio 

Dimension Energy has secured $650 million in construction and term financing to support a 132 MW portfolio of 25 community solar projects across Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois. The funding consists of $415 million in debt financing provided by First Citizens Bank, MUFG, ING Capital LLC, and National Bank of Canada. Franklin Park contributed $235 million in tax equity for the project.

US DOE announces $1.9 billion SPARK Initiative to upgrade power grid

The US Department of Energy (DOE), through its Office of Electricity, announced on March 12, 2026, a $1.9 billion notice of funding opportunity to accelerate upgrades to the US electric transmission system. Google and DTE join forces for 2.7 GW clean power data centre in Michigan

Google has partnered with DTE Energy to develop a new data centre in Michigan, supported by a commitment to enable 2.7 GW of new clean energy resources for the local grid. The project is structured to supply round-the-clock clean power directly to the grid, with a site in Van Buren township currently under evaluation. 274 MW Madawaska wind project in Canada begins construction

The 274 MW Madawaska wind project in Quebec has reached financial close, enabling the start of construction. The project is being developed by EDF power solutions Canada, Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est, and Société de gestion éolienne de la Madawaska Inc. Financing has been arranged through a consortium comprising Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, National Bank of Canada, Desjardins Group, and KfW IPEX-Bank.

Arevon commissions 430 MW Kelso solar project in Missouri

Arevon Energy, Inc. has commenced operations at the 430 MWdc Kelso solar project located in Scott county, Missouri. The company developed and constructed the project and will also own and operate it.  It represents an investment of more than $500 million. The project has been developed in two phases. It is expected to generate sufficient electricity to supply power to more than 62,000 homes annually.

Argentina launches 700 MW BESS tender

The  Energy Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation of Argentina has announced a national and international call for proposals to deploy battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects at critical nodes across Argentina. The current phase targets the installation of 700 MW of BESS capacity with an estimated investment of $700 million. CAMMESA will oversee the bidding and implementation process.

Enel to acquire 830 MW US renewable portfolio 

Enel S.p.A., through its subsidiaries Enel Green Power North America and EGPNA Project Holdco 2, has signed agreements with Excelsior Energy Capital to acquire a 830 MW renewable energy portfolio in US. The portfolio comprises wind and solar plants with an average annual output of 2.1 TWh. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to certain conditions precedent, including regulatory approvals.

Greenbacker secures financing for 674 MW solar project in New York

Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC has completed a $440 million tax equity commitment from US Bank and M&T Bank for the 674 MWdc, or 500 MWac, Cider solar project located in Genesee county, New York. The financing represents the final funding component required to fully capitalise the project to bring it online, and will support the utilisation of investment tax credits.

TotalEnergies and Google ink 1 GW solar PPAs in Texas

TotalEnergies has entered into two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to supply 1,000 MW of solar capacity to Google for its data centres in Texas over a 15-year period. The agreements cover renewable electricity generation of approximately 28 TWh during the contract term. Power will be sourced from two solar projects, namely the 805 MWp Wichita project and the 195 MWp Mustang Creek project.

FERC issues licence to Goldendale PSP in Washington

Rye Development and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, through its Flagship Fund CI V, have announced that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued a 40-year licence for the Goldendale energy storage project in Washington. Once operational, the closed-loop hydropower pumped storage project (PSP) is designed to store electricity for up to 12 hours and deliver 1,200 MW of on-demand power.

Estuary Power completes solar plus storage project in Nevada

Estuary Power has completed all phases of the Escape Solar and Storage project in Lincoln county, Nevada, reaching final completion in December 2025. The project has 185 MW of solar capacity along with 400 MWh of battery storage. Construction of the solar plants was carried out by Bechtel Infrastructure and Power Corporation. Power from the project is being supplied to four customers in Nevada under long-term arrangements.

Lightsource bp and Toyota ink VPPA for solar project in Texas

Lightsource bp and Toyota Motor North America have concluded a 15-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) linked to electricity from the 231 MW Jones City 2 solar project in Texas, US. The project forms part of the larger Jones City energy center and entered the construction phase in spring 2025. The Jones City energy center has a cumulative capacity of 700 MW.

Pattern Energy to acquire Cordelio Power

Pattern Energy Group has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Cordelio Power, an independent power producer operating in Canada and US. Under the agreement, Pattern Energy will acquire an operating and under-construction renewable portfolio of 1,550 MW from Cordelio Power. This portfolio comprises 16 wind, solar, and energy storage projects located across Canada and the US.
