EDF and partners sign 200 MW wind power PPA in Ontario

EDF Power Solutions North America, Red Rock Indian Band, and Fort William First Nation have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for the 200 MW Northern Breeze Energy wind project, located near Thunder Bay. The project is owned 50 per cent by EDF Power Solutions, 25 per cent each by Red Rock Indian Brand and Fort William First Nation.

Nordex commences production at blade manufacturing facility in Turkey

The Nordex Group has commenced production at its new blade manufacturing facility in Turkey. The facility is expected to produce up to 1,200 rotor blades annually at full capacity. The facility will manufacture rotor blades for the advanced N163 and N175 turbine models designed for medium to strong wind conditions. The facility will initially supply blades for projects awarded under Turkey’s YEKA-4 and YEKA-5 renewable energy programmes, with plans to export blades to support European wind energy projects.

Australia awards 7.8 GW of clean energy projects

Australia’s Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy has announced the results of Tender 7 under the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS). A total of 19 renewable energy projects were selected, delivering 7.8 GW, exceeding the original 5 GW target  of capacity. Of which 8 projects are hybrid systems combining wind or solar generation with battery storage.

Trafigura and Nadara sign 434 MW hybrid PPA in Spain 

Trafigura has signed a 10-year hybrid power purchase agreement (PPA) withNadara for 434 MW of renewable energy capacity in Spain. The agreement covers power generation from five solar PV farms and six wind farms. The PPA includes output from Nadara’s hybrid sites at Esquileo, Dehesilla I & II, San Lorenzo C & D, along with the operational La Dehesica wind farm.

Avangrid and PSE ink PPA for 199.5 MW wind project in US

Avangrid has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Puget Sound Energy (PSE) for the Big Horn I wind project located in Klickitat County, Washington. The project will have a nameplate capacity of 199.5 MW, enough to supply electricity to around 70,000 homes annually. The project, developed by Avangrid in 2006, is expected to commence commercial operations in 2028 following its redevelopment.

OnPath Energy to invest £1 billion in Scottish onshore wind

OnPath Energy has planned to invest around £1 billion for onshore wind project developments in partnership with Wilson Forest Products over the next five years. This includes the development of the Bankend Rig II, Bankend Rig III, and Hawkwood Wind Farm projects in Southern Scotland. The projects will include a total of 18 turbines with a combined generation capacity of 121 MW and will generate enough electricity to supply around 150,000 homes annually.

Iberdrola to commission 195 MW wind farm in Portugal

Iberdrola has commissioned the 195 MW Tâmega Norte wind farm in Portugal. Located between Braga and Vila Real, in the municipalities of Cabeceiras de Basto and Montalegre, theTâmega Norte wind farm is an onshore wind project consisting of 27 Vestas wind turbines, each with a capacity of 7.2 MW and a rotor height of 172 metres. Furthermore, the project is the first of two wind farms that form part of the grid-connected wind-hydro hybrid project, Tâmega Complex.

Mainstream achieves commercial operations for Ckhúri wind farm in Chile

Mainstream Renewable Power has announced that it has received commercial operations date (COD) certification for the Ckhúri Wind Farm from the National Electricity Coordinator. The project is located in Calama in the Antofagasta Region, Chile. The project has an installed capacity of 109.2 MW and comprises 26 Vestas turbines. Furthermore, the project is expected to supply clean energy sufficient to power approximately 166,000 Chilean homes.

Envision and Menderes join forces for 120 MW wind power project in Turkey 

Envision Energy has partnered with Menderes Tekstil for the Beğendik wind power project. The project, located in Edirne Province, Turkey, has an installed capacity of 120 MW. The project will deploy 15 units of Envision’s EN-182/8.0 MW wind turbines. The project is also expected to generate around 360 million kWh of clean electricity annually. Additionally, the project is expected to offset carbon emissions by approximately 225,000 tonnes on an annual basis.

ADB to finance ACWA’s 300 MW wind project in Uzbekistan

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a $116 million financing package with ACWA Power to support the development, construction, operation, and transfer of a 300 MW wind power project in the Bukhara region, Uzbekistan. The financing includes a $50 million loan from ADB’s ordinary capital resources, $41 million from commercial lenders, and $25 million from the ADB’s Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund 2 (LEAP 2).

New York launches a new onshore renewable energy tender

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has launched the 10th annual Renewable Energy Standard solicitation, RESRFP26-1, to accelerate clean energy deployment across New York. The solicitation, issued on April 24, 2026, seeks Tier 1-eligible renewable energy certificates (RECs) from projects with a near-term path to commercial operation. The procurement process will follow a two-step structure comprising a step one eligibility application and a step two competitive bid proposal process.

RWE to supply 70 GWh clean energy to Breedon in Great Britain

RWE has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Breedon Group in Great Britain. Under the agreement, RWE will provide around 70 GWh of renewable power annually to Breedon’s operations. The power will initially be supplied from the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm located in the Irish Sea. From 2033 onwards, the power will be supplied from the Brechfa Forest West Wind Farm located in Wales.

IFM Investors will acquire the remaining 50 per cent stake in Nala Renewables from Trafigura Renewables. Nala Renewables, a renewable-energy platform located in London, operates a multi-technology portfolio with over 2 GW capacity across solar, wind, and storage. The platform also targets 10 GW of global capacity in operation, construction, or late-stage development by 2030.

Vestas bags 186 MW wind turbine order in Québec

Vestas has secured a 186 MW turbine order from EDF Power Solutions North America for the Forêt Domaniale Wind Project. The order includes 28 EnVentus V162-6.2 MW wind turbines and 2 EnVentus V162-6.0 MW along with a 10-year AOM 5000 service agreement. Turbine delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2027, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2027.

European Energy signs PPA for 161 MW wind farm in Lithuania 

European Energy has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Mars for the Skuodas wind farm project in Lithuania. The project will have an installed capacity of 161 MW and is expected to generate around 490 GWh annually. Commercial operations for the project are targeted by 2028. Additionally, the project will help offset roughly 120,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

EIB approves €2 billion for clean energy initiatives in Europe 

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved €10 billion in financing, including €2 billion for clean energy initiatives in Europe. The funding will support offshore wind in Germany, solar projects in Italy, and renewable adoption by businesses in Austria. It also includes investments in energy efficiency for heating systems in Latvia and grid upgrades in the Netherlands.

TotalEnergies gets funding for Kazakhstan wind and BESS project

TotalEnergies has secured financing for the Mirny onshore wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Kazakhstan. The project includes a 1 GW onshore wind farm, with 150 turbines and a 600 MWh battery system which will be supplied by Saft, an affiliate of TotalEnergies. The power generated will be sold to the Government of Kazakhstan under a 25-year PPA which was signed in 2023.

Masdar and EPCG form renewable energy JV in Montenegro

Masdar and Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) have formed a 50/50 joint venture (JV) in Montenegro. The JV, headquartered in Nikšić, will deploy solar, wind, hydropower, pumped storage, BESS, and hybrid energy solutions. It aims to meet domestic energy demand while enabling renewable power exports across the Western Balkans and Southern Europe.
