RWE secures approval for 1.1 GW Australian wind farm

RWE has received federal environmental approval for its 1.1 GW Theodore wind farm. The project is located in Central Queensland, Australia. The project secured State Development Approval in June 2025 and was awarded the Capacity Investment Scheme contract under Tender 7 in May 2026. The project, valued at A$3 billion, will comprise up to 170 wind turbines and a battery energy storage system (BESS).

Pattern Energy and SRP sign 600 MW PPA for SunZia wind project 

Pattern Energy and Salt River Project (SRP) have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for up to 600 MW of electricity from the SunZia wind project in the US Southwest. The SunZia wind project has an installed capacity of 3,650 MW. The project is supported by a 550-mile high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line and represents an $11 billion clean energy investment.

Opdenergy secures $227 million for Chile renewables portfolio

Opdenergy has secured $227 million in financing for its operational renewable energy portfolio in Chile. The financing was provided by SMBC, BNP Paribas and ICO and is backed by long-term DISCO and private power purchase agreements with investment-grade off-takers, comprising the 104 MWp Sol de Los Andes solar plant and 90 MW/513 MWh Sol de Los Andes BESS, both in the Atacame region.

South Korea awards 1.7 GW offshore wind projects 

South Korea has awarded five offshore wind projects totaling 1.78 GW in its first-half 2026 offshore wind auction. The auction attracted bids for 3.65 GW across nine projects, and achieved a competition ratio exceeding 2:1. The selected portfolio includes more than 1.2 GW of fixed-bottom capacity, 532 MW of floating offshore wind, and a 160 MW public-led project.

CIP reaches financial close for 392 MW wind project in Romania

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Growth Markets Fund II (GMF II), has reached financial close for the 392 MW Pestera II onshore wind project located in Constanța County, Romania. The project secured a 15-year contract for difference (CfD) for 245 MW of capacity in December 2024. The project is expected to commence commercial operations in 2028.

Skyborn and Amazon sign 600 MW offshore wind PPA in Germany 

Amazon and Skyborn Renewables have signed a 600 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) for electricity from the Gennaker offshore wind farm. The project is located in the German Baltic Sea and will add up to 976.5 MW of offshore wind capacity to Germany’s power system. The project will feature 63 offshore wind turbines rated at 15 MW each. Project construction is expected to commence following financial close in summer 2026, with commercial operations targeted for late 2028.

Pattern Energy commissions 3.65 GW SunZia wind project in US 

Pattern Energy Group has commenced operations at SunZia renewable energy project in US. The project comprises a 3.65 GW wind generation facility and a 550-mile high-voltage direct current transmission line, delivering renewable power from New Mexico to Arizona and across the western US grid. At full capacity, the project can generate enough electricity to power approximately one million homes annually.

A.P. Moller to acquire Mainstream Renewable Power South Africa 

A.P. Moller Capital, through its Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund II (EMIF II), has signed an agreement to acquire Mainstream Renewable Power South Africa. Mainstream Renewable Power was established in 2009. It has a portfolio comprising 148 MW of operating and under-construction assets, 351 MW of construction-ready projects, and an approximately 11.6 GW pipeline of solar, wind, and battery storage projects.

Ignitis secures financing for 313 MW wind farm in Lithuania

Ignitis group has secured a €150 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support the financing of the Kelmė Wind Farm. The wind farm has a combined installed capacity of 313.7 MW and is located in Lithuania. The project reached commercial operations in June 2025. With this, the total investment in the Kelmė Wind Farm, including acquisition and construction costs, is expected to reach up to €550 million.

Pacifico Energy signs MoU for 3.2 GW South Korean offshore wind cluster 

Pacifico Energy Korea has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hana Bank and Hana Securities to explore financing solutions for the 3.2 GW Jindo Offshore Wind Project Cluster in South Korea. The MoU will involve the three parties collaborating on funding strategies covering the development, construction and operation phases of the offshore wind portfolio, while also developing a financing model for Korea’s offshore wind industry.

Germany awards 2.5 GW onshore wind capacity 

Germany’s Federal Network Agency has released the results of the onshore wind and innovation auction. The onshore wind auction awarded approximately 2.5 GW across 270 winning bids from 628 submissions totaling roughly 6.4 GW, significantly oversubscribing the 2.5 GW tender. Successful bid prices ranged from 4.44 ct/kWh to 5.19 ct/kWh, with a volume-weighted average of 5.06 ct/kWh, down from 5.54 ct/kWh in the previous round.

Masdar buys stake in 705 MW Spanish renewables portfolio 

Masdar has agreed to acquire a 49.99 percent stake in Repsol’s 705 MW renewable energy portfolio in Spain in a deal valuing the assets at €849 million. The portfolio comprises 13 wind farms with a combined capacity of 402 MW and 6 solar parks totaling 303 MW, all of which became operational in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. It also includes a pipeline of more than 565 MW of potential hybrid projects involving wind, solar and battery storage.

Foxconn and Brookfield have partnered to develop renewable energy projects in Vietnam to support Foxconn’s operations and supply chain partners. The collaboration aims to develop up to 1 GW of utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage capacity across the country. The projects will be backed by long-term power purchase agreements and jointly managed by both companies.

EBRD finances 400 MW renewables across south-east Europe

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a €175 million loan to Public Power Corporation (PPC) to support renewable energy development across Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania. The financing will help develop approximately 400 MW of new wind and solar capacity across the three countries. The financing is backed by the EU-supported InvestEU.

EDF and partners sign 200 MW wind power PPA in Ontario

EDF Power Solutions North America, Red Rock Indian Band, and Fort William First Nation have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for the 200 MW Northern Breeze Energy wind project, located near Thunder Bay. The project is owned 50 per cent by EDF Power Solutions, 25 per cent each by Red Rock Indian Brand and Fort William First Nation.

Nordex commences production at blade manufacturing facility in Turkey

The Nordex Group has commenced production at its new blade manufacturing facility in Turkey. The facility is expected to produce up to 1,200 rotor blades annually at full capacity. The facility will manufacture rotor blades for the advanced N163 and N175 turbine models designed for medium to strong wind conditions. The facility will initially supply blades for projects awarded under Turkey’s YEKA-4 and YEKA-5 renewable energy programmes, with plans to export blades to support European wind energy projects.

Australia awards 7.8 GW of clean energy projects

Australia’s Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy has announced the results of Tender 7 under the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS). A total of 19 renewable energy projects were selected, delivering 7.8 GW, exceeding the original 5 GW target  of capacity. Of which 8 projects are hybrid systems combining wind or solar generation with battery storage.

Trafigura and Nadara sign 434 MW hybrid PPA in Spain 

Trafigura has signed a 10-year hybrid power purchase agreement (PPA) withNadara for 434 MW of renewable energy capacity in Spain. The agreement covers power generation from five solar PV farms and six wind farms. The PPA includes output from Nadara’s hybrid sites at Esquileo, Dehesilla I & II, San Lorenzo C & D, along with the operational La Dehesica wind farm.
