Hecate sells 2 GW US solar-plus-storage project to Savion

Hecate Energy Group has completed the sale of its up to 2,000 MW Cereza solar and storage project to Savion. The project is located at the US Department of Energy’s Hanford Site in southeastern Washington and was originally secured by Hecate in 2024. Under the agreement, Savion will take the lead on project development, with continued support from Hecate.

AES commissions Petersburg Energy Center in Indiana

AES Indiana, a subsidiary of AES Corporation, has commissioned the Petersburg Energy Center in Pike county. The Petersburg Energy Center includes 250 MW of solar capacity installed through over 515,000 solar panels, along with 180 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS). The project will generate enough renewable electricity to power more than 100,000 homes.

Grenergy secures financing for Central Oasis in Chile

Grenergy has finalised a $355 million senior non-recourse financing facility for the Gran Teno, Tamango, and Planchón projects, which form part of its Central Oasis complex in Chile. The funding has been arranged through an international banking syndicate led by BNP Paribas as the coordinating bank, along with Banco Santander and Rabobank. The assets together account for 398 MW of solar and 1.4 GWh of battery storage capacity.

GULF secures financing for 939 MW renewable projects in Thailand

Gulf Development Public Company Limited (GULF) has secured loan facilities worth approximately $1.9 billion to support the development of 27 renewable projects in Thailand with a total generation capacity of 939 MW. The financing has been arranged through the company’s renewable energy and waste-to-energy subsidiaries. The portfolio comprises 15 solar and solar-plus-storage projects along with 12 waste-to-energy plants.

Younan to develop solar-plus-storage project in California 

Younan Company has announced the development of a large utility-scale solar and battery storage project in California under Soleil Renewable Energy, LLC. The project is planned in East Kern county, on approximately 3,200 acres of owned land. It will have a solar generation capacity of 880 MWdc, equivalent to 700 MWac, paired with a 460 MW battery energy storage system. Commercial operations are targeted for mid-2028.

ACME Solar secures financing for clean energy projects in India

ACME Solar Holdings has bagged a debt tie-up of Rs 47.2 billion from Indian financial institutions. Out of the total financing, Rs 27.1 billion has been secured from Power Finance Corporation for ACME’s 300 MW firm and dispatchable energy (FDRE) project. Furthermore, Rs 8 billion was secured from the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure Development. The remaining amount of Rs 12.09 billion was secured from Yes Bank.

rPlus Energies acquires 900 MW solar-plus-storage projects in Idaho

rPlus Energies has completed the acquisition of two solar-plus-storage projects in Ada County, Idaho. The two projects are the Blacks Creek energy center and the Bluebird solar project, with a cumulative capacity of 900 MW. The  Blacks Creek energy center consists of 400 MW of solar capacity along with 200 MW of storage. The acquisitions add to the company’s existing activities in Ada County.

BrightNight and Cordelio achieve financial close for Pioneer Clean Energy Center in Arizona

BrightNight, along with its joint venture partner Cordelio Power, has reached financial close for the Pioneer Clean Energy Center in Yuma, Arizona. The project comprises a 300 MWac solar plant with a 300 MW/1,200 MWh battery energy storage system. Construction activities at the site are in progress, with commercial operations scheduled to commence by April 2027.

Clearway inks agreements for solar-plus-storage project in Washington

Clearway Energy Group has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and a 20-year energy storage agreement with the Public Utility District No. 2 of Grant County (Grant PUD) for the Royal Slope Energy Center project. The project is located in Grant County, Washington and comprises a 260 MW solar plant and a 260 MW battery energy storage system. It is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027.

Nama Power and Water Procurement has signed a power purchase agreement with a consortium for the development of the Ibri III Solar Independent Power Project in Oman. The project comprises a 500 MW utility-scale solar plant, integrated with a 100 MWh battery energy storage system. The consortium that will develop the project includes Masdar, OQ Alternative Energy, Al Khadra Partners, and Korea Midland Power Co. Ltd.

Philippines announces results of GEA-4

The Philippines Department of Energy has released the results of the fourth green energy auction (GEA-4). The tendered capacity was 10,653 MW, with 9,423.622 MW subscribed, reflecting an 88 per cent subscription rate. The auction covered ground-mounted, roof-mounted, and floating solar, onshore wind, and integrated solar with energy storage systems. A total of 111 bids were accepted.

Palladium Energy (Palladium), through its joint venture with Arava Power Company (Arava), has sold the solar plus storage portfolio to Exus Renewables North America (Exus). The portfolio has 364 MW of solar and 280 MWh of storage capacity. The portfolio includes three mid-stage projects situated in PJM and MISO. The development, construction, and asset management of the portfolio will be carried out by Exus.

ContourGlobal has acquired a solar plus storage project in US. The project is currently in its advanced stage and will be developed in two phases. It will feature a combined capacity of 567 MWp of solar PV and 321 MW/1.3 GWh of BESS. Once completed, it will provide a total hybrid capacity of 888 MW. Furthermore, the project is connected to Arizona’s WAPA grid and includes firm transmission rights to deliver power to CAISO.

China Three Gorges Renewables announces a 18 GW energy project in Inner Mongolia

China Three Gorges Renewables, a Chinese state-owned power company, is planning to develop a massive 18 GW energy project in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. This $11 billion project will comprise 8 GW solar PV project, 4 GW of wind, 4 GW of coal-fired power and 5 GWh of battery energy storage. 200 MW of solar thermal capacity is also planned as part of this project. Construction on the project is expected to begin in September 2024 and the project is planned to be ready for commissioning by 2027.

Entergy and NextEra to develop up to 4.5 GW of solar energy storage projects

Entergy and NextEra Energy Resources LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc. have entered into a joint development agreement to develop up to 4.5 GW of new solar generation and energy storage projects.As per the company’s statement, the agreement will help Entergy provide renewable energy to more than 3 million customers in Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. Furthermore, it is a five-year joint development agreement.
