South Korea plans green hydrogen complex at Saemangeum

Korea South-East Power (KOEN) and the Saemangeum Development Agency have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a large-scale green hydrogen complex in Saemangeum, South Korea. The proposed project will integrate solar power generation, green hydrogen production and hydrogen-fired power generation in Buan, North Jeolla Province. Furthermore, the project is planned for 1 GW of onshore solar capacity with 320 MW of water electrolysis capacity and 100 MW of hydrogen-only power generation.

Singapore EMA approves 900 MW Malaysia clean power imports

Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) has granted conditional approvals to Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd and Southern Solar Alliance Pte Ltd to import a combined 900 MW of electricity from Peninsular Malaysia. Sembcorp Utilities has received approval for a proposed capacity of 300 MW, while Southern Solar Alliance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysian developer Ditrolic Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd, has received approval for 600 MW.

JSW Neo Energy and DGPC sign agreement for 920 MW Bhutanese hydro project

JSW Neo Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, has signed a shareholders’ agreement with Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) for the joint development of the Punatsangchhu-III hydroelectric project. The project has an installed capacity of 920 MW and is located in the Wangdue Phodrang district in Bhutan. Furthermore, DGPC holds a 51 per cent stake in the project while JSW Neo Energy holds a 49 per cent stake.

Purvah Green to acquire ReNew’s 1.4 GW solar portfolio in India

Purvah Green Power Private Limited has signed an agreement to acquire a 1.4 GWp operating solar portfolio from ReNew Solar Power Private Limited, a subsidiary of ReNew, for an enterprise value of Rs 48.59 billion. The portfolio comprises six project special purpose vehicles (SPVs) located in Rajasthan and Karnataka. More than 90 per cent of the capacity is contracted with the Solar Energy Corporation of India, while the remaining capacity is contracted with Karnataka distribution companies.

EAAIF to support 2 GW of renewable energy projects in Southeast Asia

The Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund (EAAIF) has signed a senior secured debt facility of up to $50 million with Ukko Renewable in Southeast Asia. The financing will support the development of an initial renewable energy pipeline exceeding 2 GW, forming part of a broader 3 GW-plus portfolio of wind, solar and hydropower projects across Vietnam, the Philippines and other Southeast Asian markets.

Brookfield launches $600 million renewables platform in India

Brookfield has launched Lumara, a new renewable energy platform focused on accelerating the development and construction of renewable energy projects. The platform aims to address key market bottlenecks, including delays in power purchase agreement contracting, slow grid connection queues, and prolonged land acquisition timelines. Lumara will deploy approximately $600 million, anchored by an initial portfolio of more than 6 GW across solar, wind, and battery energy storage system projects.

Indonesia unveils 194 km green hydrogen corridor 

The Government of Indonesia has unveiled plans to develop a 194 km Green Hydrogen Corridor linking Jakarta, Karawang and Patimban as part of its strategy to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy and strengthen national energy security. The initiative was announced during the 2026 Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit (GHES) and is designed to establish an integrated hydrogen supply chain connecting green hydrogen production plants, hydrogen refuelling stations, industrial zones, logistics hubs, ports and end users.

Vena Energy reaches financial close for 500 MWp Philippine solar project

Vena Energy has achieved financial close for the 500 MWp Ixus Bugallon solar power project in Bugallon, Pangasinan, Philippines. The project secured approximately $310 million in senior debt financing from a syndicate of banks including BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, DBS Bank Ltd., ING Bank N.V., Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A., MUFG Bank Ltd., Standard Chartered Bank, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.

Malaysia launches 2.5 GW solar and 1.25 GW BESS tender

Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) has announced the sixth round of its Large-Scale Solar (LSS6) programme, targeting 2.5 GW of solar capacity paired with 1.25 GW of battery energy storage systems (BESS). The tender will be implemented in three lots, with the first lot comprising 2.2 GW solar and 1.1 GW BESS package open to all developers.

MGEN commissions phase 1 of MTerra hybrid project in Philippines

Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN), together with its partners, has inaugurated Phase 1 of the MTerra Solar Project in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. Phase 1 of the project comprises 1,373 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity and 825 MW/3,300 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity. Under Phase 1, more than 2,000 MWdc of solar panels have been installed, while all 741 battery units have been fully energized.

Sungrow commissions 400 MWh BESS in Malaysia

Sungrow commissioned the 100 MW/400 MWh Santong battery energy storage project (BESS) in Terengganu, Malaysia. It is owned and developed by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). Sungrow supplied 90 PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled BESS units along with its facility energy management system for the project. The project also successfully completed a 100 MW full-power discharge test.

SK and KKR launch South Korean renewable energy platform

SK Inc. and KKR have signed agreements to establish a renewable energy platform in South Korea. The platform will be valued at KRW 2 trillion (approximately $1.3 billion). The platform will manage 1.7 GW of operational renewable capacity and a development pipeline expected to expand total capacity to 10 GW. The platform will span solar, onshore wind, offshore wind, and fuel cells, while excluding hydrogen.

ADB backs 310 MW solar expansion in Bhutan 

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $160 million loan to expand solar power generation in Bhutan through the deployment of at least 310 MW of new solar capacity. The project includes 120 MW Wobthang, 40 MW Pedseling, and 150 MW Dramthang solar farms. The initiative also includes 46 km of transmission infrastructure to connect the projects to the national grid.

ADB to fund 500 MWh BESS project in Cambodia

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $63.44 million financing package to support the deployment of a 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at Cambodia’s Takeo substation. The financing package comprises a $40 million concessional loan and a $5 million grant from ADB, alongside $18.44 million in co-financing from the Green Climate Fund and the UK through the ASEAN Catalytic Green Finance Facility.

I Squared Capital and GS E&C to develop 1.5 GW renewables in South Korea

I Squared Capital and GS E&C have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint venture (JV) focused on developing solar and battery energy storage projects in South Korea. The partnership aims to secure and develop 1.5 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2035, including approximately 820 MW of solar projects. The collaboration aligns with South Korea’s energy transition goals as it targets renewable energy sources to contribute at least 20 percent of total electricity generation by 2030.

NOVVA Group has signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the San Jose Solar Power Plant (SJSP) from Mabuhay Power Holdings Corporation. The project is located in Mindanao, Philippines. Meta Platforms and CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions Limited have joined forces for around 900 MW of renewable energy capacity in India. As part of the collaboration, the two companies will support the development of 837 MW of new solar and wind power projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka, India. CleanMax will develop and operate the new renewable energy projects, while Meta will purchase 100 per cent of the environmental attributes generated by them.

Inox Clean Energy signs agreement to acquire Vena Energy India

Inox Clean Energy Limited, through its subsidiary Inox Neo, has signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the equity interests in Vena Energy India. Vena Energy India, Vena Group’s Indian renewable energy platform, comprises around 1 GW of operational renewable capacity, along with 1.7 GW of solar and wind and 1.2 GWh of BESS advanced-stage projects. Additionally, it has a pipeline of 2.7 GW of solar and wind projects and 1.3 GWh of BESS projects.
