ZOE Energy Storage has partnered with a Saudi company to establish a BESS manufacturing facility. The BESS will be developed in two phases, with Phase I delivering 6 GWh capacity by the first quarter of 2027 and Phase II expanding total production capacity to 18 GWh. Once operational, the facility will serve markets across the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.

Nordex commences production at blade manufacturing facility in Turkey

The Nordex Group has commenced production at its new blade manufacturing facility in Turkey. The facility is expected to produce up to 1,200 rotor blades annually at full capacity. The facility will manufacture rotor blades for the advanced N163 and N175 turbine models designed for medium to strong wind conditions. The facility will initially supply blades for projects awarded under Turkey’s YEKA-4 and YEKA-5 renewable energy programmes, with plans to export blades to support European wind energy projects.

Sungrow and Masdar sign 7.5 GWh ESS deal for RTC project in Abu Dhabi

Sungrow andMasdar have signed an agreement to supply a battery energy storage system (BESS) and photovoltaic (PV) inverter solutions for the UAE’s gigascale round-the-clock renewable energy project. The project, being developed by Masdar and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), will combine 5.2 GW of solar PV with a 19 GWh BESS. Under the agreement, Sungrow will provide 7.5 GWh of PowerTitan 3.0 ESS and 2.6 GW of PV inverter solutions.

Envision and Menderes join forces for 120 MW wind power project in Turkey 

Envision Energy has partnered with Menderes Tekstil for the Beğendik wind power project. The project, located in Edirne Province, Turkey, has an installed capacity of 120 MW. The project will deploy 15 units of Envision’s EN-182/8.0 MW wind turbines. The project is also expected to generate around 360 million kWh of clean electricity annually. Additionally, the project is expected to offset carbon emissions by approximately 225,000 tonnes on an annual basis.

Toyota Tsusho commissions 100 MW solar projects in Tunisia

Toyota Tsusho Corporation, through its group company AEOLUS SAS, has completed the construction of two solar plants totaling 100 MW in Tunisia. The plants, developed in partnership with Scatec ASA, are located in Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur governorates. The 50 MW Sidi Bouzid Mezzouna plant began operations in January 2026, while the 50 MW Tozeur plant began operations in March 2026.

Globeleq has launched the Leopards Hill project which combines a 250 MWp solar PV with a 150 MW/600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Mulilo secures financial close on 380 MW solar project in Western Cape

Mulilo has achieved financial close on the 380 MW Beaufort West Solar PV facility in the Western Cape. The plant features a 250 MWAC export capacity and is connected to the Droërivier substation. The project is backed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Norfund, with multi-bank funding from Absa, Standard Bank, Investec, and Nedbank. The facility, once operational, will generate 818 GWh yearly which is sufficient to power 345,000 homes while offsetting 860,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

Voltalia commissions 148 MW Bolobedu solar farm in South Africa

Voltalia has fully commissioned the Bolobedu solar farm project which is located in Limpopo province, South Africa. The project has a total installed capacity of 148 MW, and is part of a long-term corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Richards Bay Minerals (RBM). The farm will supply around 300 GWh on an annual basis which is equivalent to the yearly electricity consumption of 425,000 inhabitants.

AfDB approves $5.65 million grant to support minigrids portfolio across Africa

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a $5.65 million reimbursable grant from the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa to pilot the Peace Renewable Energy Certificate (P-REC) Aggregation Facility. The initiative will use renewable energy certificates as a primary financing mechanism to support a portfolio of mini-grid projects across Africa.

Egypt signs renewable energy agreements package  

Egypt has formalised a series of renewable agreements covering wind, solar, and battery energy storage system projects. These include plans to establish standalone battery energy storage systems with a total capacity of 5,620 MW. One of the agreements grants land usufruct rights for the 900 MW Shokeir wind project in Ras Shokeir. Furthermore, multiple other PPAs have been signed for several renewable projects across the country.

Tunisia floats tender for solar-plus-storage project

The Republic of Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy has floated a tender for the development of a solar-plus-storage project. It will consist of a 300 MW solar plant with a 150 MW/540 MWh battery energy storage system. Located in Bazma in the governorate of Kebili, it is a part of the country’s national renewable energy development programme. The deadline for bid submission is October 14, 2026.

Lyra Energy secures financial close for 255 MW solar project in South Africa

Lyra Energy, a joint venture of Scatec in South Africa, has achieved financial close for the 255 MW Thakadu solar project and has commenced construction. The project will be implemented in two phases. Construction activities for the first phase have begun, while the second phase is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. The commercial operations date for the first phase is expected during the first half of 2027.

Qair has completed financing for the Stor’Sun hybrid project in Mauritius, combining solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The total investment amounts to approximately around $150 million.The financing structure includes partnerships with SBM Bank, which supported Stor’Sun I, II, and IV, and MCB, which financed Stor’Sun III. The hybrid project combines 60 MW of solar capacity with 256 MWh of BESS capacity.

The European Commission has announced two renewable energy projects in Egypt with a combined value of approximately €124.3 million. Around €34.3 million will support the Sokhna green ammonia project, aimed at advancing green hydrogen development and related renewable energy deployment. TAQA Morocco and Moeve ink agreement for green hydrogen project

TAQA Morocco and Moeve have signed a preliminary land reservation agreement with the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco under the country’s Green Hydrogen Offer. The two companies were selected in 2025 as a consortium to develop a large-scale project focused on producing green ammonia and industrial fuel in the southern regions of Morocco. The agreement signing will enable the commencement of feasibility studies.

SolarAfrica secures financial close for 114 MW solar project 

SolarAfrica has achieved financial close of R 1.5 billion for the development of SunCentral 2, a 114 MW solar plant in the Northern Cape. The funding has been arranged through RMB and Investec Bank Limited. The project is scheduled to begin supplying power in 2026. SunCentral 2 follows SunCentral 1, which also has a capacity of 114 MW and reached financial close at the end of 2024.
