Lydian secures financing for solar and battery storage projects in US

Lydian Energy has secured $689 million in financing for two solar projects, AC Ranch 1 and Yellow Viking, along with the Faraday battery energy storage system (BESS) project. The financing package is backed by CIBC and MUFG. It includes a construction-to-term loan, tax credit bridge loan, co-investment bridge loan, and a letter of credit facility.  The projects are part of Lydian’s portfolio backed by Excelsior Energy Capital.

Sonoco and ENGIE ink VPPA for 140 MW wind project in Texas

Sonoco Products Company and ENGIE North America have commenced electricity delivery under a virtual power purchase agreement (VPP) linked to the Big Sampson wind project in Crockett county, Texas. The agreement covers an estimated 140 MW of electricity annually for a 15-year term starting from the project’s commercial operation.The project was completed in late 2025 and consists of 60 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4.5 MW.

Origis Energy and Meta ink solar PPA in Texas 

Origis Energy and Meta have entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Greyhound A solar project located in West Odessa, Texas. The project has a capacity of 303 MWdc, equivalent to 240 MWac, and is scheduled to reach commercial operations by mid-2026. Greyhound A forms part of a 1 GW broader energy infrastructure complex with a fully subscribed solar portfolio being developed by Origis Energy in west Texas.

Spearmint Energy bags equity investment for 400 MWh BESS projects in Texas

Spearmint Energy has closed an equity investment with Kyuden International Corporation for two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Texas. The investment covers the Tierra Seca and Seven Flags projects, each with a capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh, located in Del Rio and Laredo, respectively. Together, the two projects add 400 MWh of battery storage capacity to ERCOT.

Energy Vault begins construction of SOSA Energy Center in Texas

Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. has begun construction of the SOSA energy center, a 150 MW/300 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in Madison County, Texas, within the ERCOT North market. The project was initially developed by Savion, a Shell plc subsidiary, and was acquired by Energy Vault in the fourth quarter of 2025. Commercial operations for the project are expected in the second quarter of 2027

RWE has commissioned the Stoneridge solar project in Milam County, Texas. The project, comprising 200 MW of solar capacity along with 100 MW/200 MWh of battery storage, will contribute to strengthening the regional energy supply. Additionally, it is set to contribute several million dollars in tax revenue to Milam county.

The project is expected to reach commercial operation in 2027.
