Waaree Solar Americas, a wholly owned US subsidiary of Indian solar PV manufacturer Waaree Energies Limited, has inked a 586 MW solar module supply agreement with a US-based independent power producer. The project is valued at $176 million.
The modules will be manufactured in the company’s facility in Brookshire, Texas, and are scheduled for delivery during the financial year 2026-27 across four projects. Furthermore, the modules will leverage several domestically produced components, aligning with the Investment Tax Credit guidelines for domestic content requirements.
Waaree Solar Americas has established a local manufacturing facility in Texas with 3.2 GW capacity, of which 1.6 GW is operational and the remaining 1.6 GW is under execution. The production facility became operational in January 2025, and was set up to cater to the increasing demand for solar power in the United States.
REGlobal’s Views: Many Indian module manufacturers have been exporting significant volumes of modules to the US market at attractive prices. With increasing global trade conflicts and mounting import tariffs in many parts of the world, solar PV manufacturers have been focusing on diversifying supply chains as well as setting up facilities in different markets to navigate these issues. The Indian manufacturer Waaree set up this facility in the US to capitalise the large opportunity in the growing US solar market. Meanwhile, US manufacturer First Solar set up a facility in India to benefit from the country’s domestic policies.
