Enlight secures $340 million for solar-plus-storage project in Arizona

Enlight Renewable Energy, through its US subsidiary Clēnera Holdings, has completed two tax equity partnership agreements for the Roadrunner solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Tucson, Arizona. The solar component has been backed by J.P. Morgan with a tax equity contribution at commercial operation date (COD). The storage component received tax equity financing from M&T Bank and First Citizens Bank at COD.

LONGi Hydrogen secures electrolyser order for Namibia green hydrogen project

LONGi Hydrogen has signed an equipment supply agreement to deliver one set of its ALK Hi1 electrolyser along with the balance of plant (BoP) for the project for a green hydrogen project in Namibia. The project is scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027. The equipment package will meet CE marking and other international regulatory and safety standards.

Germany auctions 3.45 GW onshore wind projects

Germany’s Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the onshore wind auction that closed on August 1, 2025. The tendered capacity was 3,443 MW, with the auction being oversubscribed and receiving bids with a total capacity of 5,739 MW. The total number of bids received was 604 bids, of which 376 bids with a combined capacity of 3,448 MW were awarded.

Norges Bank commits $1.5 billion to Brookfield’s Global Transition Fund II

Norges Bank Investment Management has entered into an agreement with Brookfield Asset Management to commit $1.5 billion to Brookfield’s Global Transition Fund II (BGTF II). BGTF II will direct these investments toward business transformation, clean energy, and sustainable solutions. This is Norges Bank Investment Management’s first investment in an energy transition fund.

TotalEnergies sells 50 per cent of 1.4 GW North American solar portfolio 

TotalEnergies has entered into an agreement with KKR-managed insurance vehicles and accounts for the sale of a 50 per cent of the 1.4 GW solar portfolio in North America. The deal values the portfolio at an enterprise value of $1.25 billion. The portfolio includes six large-scale solar projects with a cumulative capacity of 1.3 GW and 41 distributed generation projects totalling 140 MW.

New York launches ninth renewable energy solicitation round

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has announced the 2025 Land-Based Renewable Energy Standard request for proposals (RESRFP25-1) which seeks to procure large-scale wind, solar, and other renewable energy projects to boost deployment of clean energy across the state. The solicitation aims to advance large-scale renewable energy projects toward construction.

World Bank approves $500 million for Indonesia power grid upgrade

The World Bank has approved $500 million for the Indonesia Electricity Network Transformation (I-ENET) programme to modernise the electricity distribution system in the Java, Madura, and Bali regions. The initiative is aimed at supporting the integration of renewable energy and accelerating the digital transition of the power grid. The programme will run from 2025 to 2032 under PLN’s National Electricity Business Plan (RUPTL).

Sol Systems completes 342 MW solar project in Illinois

Sol Systems has announced the completion of its Eldorado solar project located in Saline County, Southeastern Illinois. The project, developed in partnership with Nextracker as the solar tracking system supplier and SOLV Energy as the construction contractor, has a capacity of 342 MWdc. The project incorporates an agrivoltaics initiative to cultivate Kernza, a perennial grain, beneath the solar panels.

Hy2gen secures approval for renewable ammonia project in Norway

Hy2gen Nordic AS, a subsidiary of the global renewable hydrogen producer Hy2gen, has received zoning approval from the municipal council of Sauda, Norway for the Iverson renewable ammonia facility at the Birkeland industrial site. The project includes a 270 MW electrolysis plant powered by hydropower and is designed to supply renewable ammonia to the maritime sector.

TotalEnergies, RWE win 1.5 GW offshore wind tender in France

The consortium formed by TotalEnergies and RWE has been awarded the Centre Manche 2 offshore wind tender (AO8) by the Ministry in charge of Industry and Energy. The consortium will design, construct, and operate a 1,500 MW offshore wind farm off the coast of Normandy. The development of the project will involve an estimated investment of €4.5 billion.

DEME bags contract for offshore wind project in Taiwan

DEME, through its Taiwanese joint venture CDWE, has won a contract for the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The scope includes transporting and installing 35 foundations and the offshore substation, along with carrying out scour protection works. Foundation installation is planned to begin in the first half of 2027, subject to the final investment decision.

Georgia Power issues RFP for 500 MW ESS

Georgia Power has announced its 2025 Request for Proposals (RFP) to procure 500 MW of energy storage system (ESS) capacity. The RFP was approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC), as part of the 2022 Integrated Resource Plan. Additionally, it seeks to bring the ESS projects online by 2031. The RFP will be managed by Ascend Analytics as an independent evaluator on behalf of Georgia Power.

Oman inks PPA for 500 MW solar-plus-storage project

Nama Power and Water Procurement has signed a power purchase agreement with a consortium for the development of the Ibri III Solar Independent Power Project in Oman. The project comprises a 500 MW utility-scale solar plant, integrated with a 100 MWh battery energy storage system. The consortium that will develop the project includes Masdar, OQ Alternative Energy, Al Khadra Partners, and Korea Midland Power Co. Ltd.

Climate Investment Fund, KLP to establish South African renewables platform

The Climate Investment Fund and KLP have planned to invest NOK 850 million to establish a new renewable energy platform in South Africa. The platform, named Anthem, is being formed through the merger of African Clean Energy Developments and EIMS Africa, with Mahlako Energy Fund also joining as an investor. The Climate Investment Fund is providing NOK 685 million, while KLP Norfund Invest is contributing NOK 170 million.

Entech acquires 159 MW solar portfolio in France

Entech Energy & Services has reached an agreement with TotalEnergies Renouvelables France to acquire a portfolio of 41 ground-mounted solar projects with a cumulative capacity of about 159 MW. The projects are located across 30 departments in Metropolitan France and are at different stages of development, with commissioning planned between 2026 and 2029.

OCI Energy secures financing for Texas BESS project

OCI Energy has closed construction financing for Project Alamo City, a standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Bexar County, Texas. The financing package consists of a construction-to-term loan, a tax equity bridge loan, and letters of credit. The debt was underwritten by ING, which acted as sole coordinating lead arranger, bookrunner, and green loan coordinator, in addition to serving as administrative agent.

Brookfield, Solarvest to develop 1.5 GW of renewable projects in Malaysia

Brookfield has entered into a joint investment framework agreement with Solarvest Holdings Bhd to jointly develop, construct, and operate more than 1,500 MW of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. These projects will be developed in Malaysia over the next three to five years. Furthermore, the initiative marks Brookfield’s first investment in Malaysia through its Catalytic Transition Fund.

ACWA Power and L&T ink MoU for Saudi green ammonia project 

ACWA Power has signed a MoU with Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) renewables division for the renewables and grid scope of the Yanbu green ammonia project in Saudi Arabia. The Yanbu project is being developed as a fully integrated hub with captive renewable electricity generation based entirely on solar and wind energy. The MoU outlines cooperation to develop the design, configuration, and performance requirements for both components.

European Commission increases budget for German renewable scheme

The European Commission (EC) has cleared an amendment to raise the budget of Germany’s existing renewable energy scheme by €7.9 billion. The scheme, approved in December 2022, covers electricity generation from biomass and biogas. The revised framework will expand tender volumes, introduce a specific quota for biomass plants already linked to heating networks, and restrict the number of production hours for biogas.
