Synera signs CPPAs for Taiwan offshore wind project

Synera Renewable Energy Group (SRE) has reported that the entire 495 MW capacity of its Formosa 4 offshore wind project has been fully contracted through corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs). The project reached full subscription following an initial CPPA signed with Taiwan Smart Electricity & Energy in December 2025, along with two additional CPPAs concluded subsequently in the same month.

European Energy takes FID on 225 MW agri-PV project in Italy

European Energy has taken the final investment decision (FID) on a 225 MW agri-PV project near Vizzini in Sicily, after securing support under Italy’s FER-X Contract for Difference auction. The project received its authorisation in 2023 and has now progressed following the successful auction outcome, which provides long-term revenue certainty. The project is scheduled to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027.

Romania launches third CfD auction for onshore wind

Romania’s Ministry of Energy, in coordination with the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme operator C.N.T.E.E. Transelectrica S.A., has launched the third auction under the State Aid scheme in the form of CfD for electricity generation from onshore wind and solar photovoltaic sources. Around 290 MW of onshore wind capacity has been tendered as a part of this CfD auction. The deadline for bid submission is November 14, 2025.

Germany auctions 3.45 GW onshore wind projects

Germany’s Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the onshore wind auction that closed on August 1, 2025. The tendered capacity was 3,443 MW, with the auction being oversubscribed and receiving bids with a total capacity of 5,739 MW. The total number of bids received was 604 bids, of which 376 bids with a combined capacity of 3,448 MW were awarded.

China launches 25 GWh battery energy storage auction 

China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) has launched an auction for 25 GWh of lithium-iron phosphate battery systems. The tender launched by CEEC is structured into three packages totalling 25 GWh. It covers systems with durations of one, two, and four hours. Package one consists of one-hour systems with a capacity of 3 GW/3 GWh. The bids for one-hour systems ranged from CNY 0.673 to CNY 0.89/Wh, with an average bid of CNY 0.7863/Wh.

Turkey awards 800 MW of solar capacity in YEKA auction round

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey has awarded 800 MW of solar energy capacity in the latest round of the YEKA program (Yenilenebilir Enerji Kaynak Alanlari). These projects will be established in Konya, Karaman, Malatya Van, Antalya, and Kütahya. The selected bidders will have the opportunity to sell the electricity they generate in the free market for 60 months after inking the contract. A total of 146 applications were submitted by 67 local and foreign companies.

EBRD inks MoU to support renewable energy auctions in Romania

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has inked a MoU with Romania’s Ministry of Energy to assist in the planning and execution of future renewable energy auctions in Romania. The first auction was opened in September 2024 for 1.5 GW of renewable energy generation capacities comprising 500 MW of solar PV and 1 GW of onshore wind.

Spain’s Solar Power Policy Framework: IEA Survey

A limited feed-in premium scheme remained in place for some legacy projects, particularly for centralized solar installations. Approximately 6 GW of PV capacity was still benefiting from this premium scheme. The Spanish government, through programs like the Next Generation EU funds, has provided subsidies to offset the initial costs of installing solar self-consumption. India discovers $0.03 per unit solar tariffs in two auctions

The Indian renewable energy implementing agencies, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and SJVN Limited, have been successful in discovering low solar tariffs to the tune of $0.03 (Rs 2.52) per unit in their respective auctions this month. Both SECI and SJVN conducted auctions for the selection of developers to set up inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected 1.2 GW of solar projects anywhere in India.

Winners announced for German offshore wind auction of 1.8 GW

RWE Clean Energy, Vattenfall, and Waterkant Energy has emerged as winners of the offshore wind tenders in an auction conducted by Bundesnetzagentur, a German federal network agency. As per the notification, the projects are worth $862.2 million and comprises four wind farms aggregating 1.8 GW in the North Sea of Germany. The federal maritime and hydrographic agency, Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH).

Philippines’ Department of Energy awards 3.43 GW of renewable projects

The Department of Energy, Philippines, has revealed the list of winning bidders under the second phase of the Green Energy Auction Programme, awarding a total of 3.43 GW of solar and wind projects through its Green Energy Auction-Bids Evaluation and Awards Committee (GEA-BEAC). This follows the latest round of bidding for projects to be constructed at 105 different sites across the country’s Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao regions.

NSW shortlists 4.3 GW of wind, solar and storage projects in first renewables auction

The government of New South Wales (NSW) has shortlisted 16 projects for its first renewable tender auction in Australia. The projects’ combined power generation and long-term storage capacity total more than 4.3 GW. They were selected in line with the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to build 2 GW of duration storage and at least 12 GW of renewable capacity in the state by 2030.

Neoen secures 180 MW of solar and wind capacity in France

Neoen, a French renewable energy provider, has been awarded 180 MW of solar and wind power capacity in the French government’s technology-neutral call for tenders. The auction process was supervised by France’s energy regulation commission, CRE. As per the company’s statement, Neon was awarded the most capacity in the auction process, with the 180 MW being split between 11 projects with capacities ranging from 12 MW to 22.8 MW.

Philippines allocates 1.57 GW of solar in auction

Under the first round of the 2 GW Green Energy Auction Program, the Philippines’ Department of Energy awarded 19 contracts to develop 1.57 GW of renewable energy projects. Solar, hydro, wind, and biomass projects in the Philippines’ Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao regions were auctioned out. The winning bids will receive 20-year power supply agreements. The projects are planned to start up between 2023 and 2025.

Upcoming Energy Auctions in Brazil

Ordinances No. 32/GM/MME and No. 33/GM/MME, both in effect as of December 17, 2021, issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy, determined the schedule for generation and transmission auctions in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Among energy auctions, reserve of energy and reserve of power auctions, and supply of isolated systems auctions, eight auctions of power generation are planned in 2022, seven in 2023 and other seven in 2024.

Four winners in India’s 1.2 GW wind auction

The winners of the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction (Tranche-XII) for the 1.2 GW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind power projects are NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, Halvad Renewables (EDF Renewables), JSW Neo Energy, and Torrent Power. NTPC Renewables won 200 MW for Rs 2.89 per kWh, while EDF won 300 MW for Rs 2.93 per kWh. JSW and Torrent Power were awarded 300 MW each at Rs 2.94 per kWh.

Assessment of Poland’s renewable energy policy

The EPP2040 places an emphasis on increasing renewable electricity generation to drive the energy transition, especially on solar PV and offshore wind. It includes targets for solar PV capacity of 5-7 GW by 2030 and 10-16 GW by 2040, and for Poland to have 1 million prosumers using distributed renewables (mainly PV) by 2030. Although the EPP2040 was released in February 2021, it does not reflect the reality of PV deployment in Poland.

Shell and Eneco to jointly work in Dutch offshore wind tenders

Shell and Eneco have agreed to work jointly on the offshore wind tender process for the Hollandse Kust (west) (HKW) VI and VII lots, which are located off the coast of the Netherlands.  The two companies will submit their bids through their two joint venture firms, Ecowende and SchakelWind. Ecowende will bid for HKW VI, while SchakelWind will submit an offer for HKW VII.

Risen Energy wins bid to supply 650 W PV modules in Xinjiang

Risen Energy Co., Ltd., a Chinese solar module manufacturer, has secured the contract to provide TITAN 650 W PV modules to Sinopec’s green hydrogen demonstration project in Kuqa County, Xinjiang, China. Once completed, the 361 MW project will be the world’s largest PV-based hydrogen manufacturing facility, and it is being hailed as a breakthrough in China’s efforts to transform its huge traditional energy producers.
