ContourGlobal acquires 2,000 MWh Wallace BESS in UK

ContourGlobal has entered the UK market with the acquisition of 500 MW/2,000 MWh Wallace battery energy storage (BESS) from a consortium of sellers including New Energy Partnership Limited. It is a four-hour-duration BESS. The project is expected to participate in the upcoming UK Capacity Market auction. The project also benefits from a full planning consent, a secured land option, and allocated Gate 2 status under the UK grid connection reform process.

Skyborn and Amazon sign 600 MW offshore wind PPA in Germany

Amazon and Skyborn Renewables have signed a 600 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) for electricity from the Gennaker offshore wind farm. The project is located in the German Baltic Sea and will add up to 976.5 MW of offshore wind capacity to Germany’s power system. The project will feature 63 offshore wind turbines rated at 15 MW each. Project construction is expected to commence following financial close in summer 2026, with commercial operations targeted for late 2028.

Masdar has agreed to acquire a 49.99 percent stake in Repsol’s 705 MW renewable energy portfolio in Spain in a deal valuing the assets at €849 million. The portfolio comprises 13 wind farms with a combined capacity of 402 MW and 6 solar parks totaling 303 MW, all of which became operational in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. It also includes a pipeline of more than 565 MW of potential hybrid projects involving wind, solar and battery storage.

EBRD finances 400 MW renewables across south-east Europe

Fidra Energy has acquired the Enderby battery energy storage (BESS) project from Innova in Leicestershire, UK.  Once operational, the project is expected to deliver up to 1,025 MW of storage capacity. The acquisition expands Fidra Energy’s UK battery storage pipeline to more than 4 GW. The project received planning consent in May 2025, with a regulatory decision expected in summer 2026.

OnPath Energy has planned to invest around £1 billion for onshore wind project developments in partnership with Wilson Forest Products over the next five years. The Federal Network Agency of Germany has released the results of the tenders for onshore wind turbines and solar installations on buildings and noise barriers that closed on February 1, 2026. For onshore wind turbines, a total capacity of 3,445 MW was tendered, attracting 924 bids with a combined capacity of 7,858 MW. Of these, 439 bids amounting to 3,445 MW were awarded contracts, while 24 bids were excluded from the award process.
