OnPath Energy to invest £1 billion in Scottish onshore wind

OnPath Energy has planned to invest around £1 billion for onshore wind project developments in partnership with Wilson Forest Products over the next five years. This includes the development of the Bankend Rig II, Bankend Rig III, and Hawkwood Wind Farm projects in Southern Scotland. The projects will include a total of 18 turbines with a combined generation capacity of 121 MW and will generate enough electricity to supply around 150,000 homes annually.

European Energy begins construction on Sicilian AgriPV project

European Energy has commenced construction of a 225.5 MW agrivoltaic project in Sicily, Italy, following a final investment decision of more than €200 million. The project is expected to generate around 405 GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to power more than 135,000 households. European Energy will manage engineering, procurement and construction activities. The project is part of European Energy’s portfolio supported under Italy’s FER X Transitional Contract for Difference auction scheme.

Flower advances its 400 MWh BESS project in Hamburg 

Flower has advanced its internally developed battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in Bergedorf, Hamburg, to ready-to-build status after securing land, grid connections, and permits. The project has an installed capacity of 100 MW/400 MWh. The project is expected to commence operations in late 2028 and represents a major step in the company’s expansion strategy in Germany.

CIP launches Perigus post Ørsted deal

Grenergy signs financial agreement for 680 MWh BESS in Spain

Grenergy has signed a 12-year financial tolling agreement for the storage system of its Escuderos hybrid project. The project is located in Castilla-La Mancha in Spain. The project comprises 200 MW solar PV with 680 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The BESS construction for the project is expected to commence in 2026 with its commissioning expected in 2027.

ACCIONA gets 800 GWh clean power contracts from Italian industries

ACCIONA Energía has signed agreements to supply 800 GWh of renewable energy to energy-intensive industries in Italy, including Acciaierie Venete. The contracts fall under Italy’s Energy Release 2.0 mechanism, managed by Gestore dei Servizi Energetici. Industries will procure power at €65 per MWh for three years and ACCIONA Energía will develop new projects backed by 20-year fixed tariff arrangements.

Germany awards 3.5 GW of onshore wind and solar capacity

The Federal Network Agency of Germany has released the results of the tenders for onshore wind turbines and solar installations on buildings and noise barriers that closed on February 1, 2026. For onshore wind turbines, a total capacity of 3,445 MW was tendered, attracting 924 bids with a combined capacity of 7,858 MW. Of these, 439 bids amounting to 3,445 MW were awarded contracts, while 24 bids were excluded from the award process.

Vestas to develop offshore wind manufacturing facility in UK

Vestas Wind Systems A/S has outlined plans to establish a nacelle and hub manufacturing facility in Scotland, UK. The proposed investment exceeds €250 million and is aimed at supporting rising offshore wind demand across the UK and Europe. The facility is expected to manufacture nacelles and hubs for the V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine platform. Additionally, Vestas will assess opportunities to co-locate key component suppliers alongside the facility.

EC approves €5 billion Danish aid scheme for offshore wind energy 

The European Commission (EC) has approved a Danish state aid scheme valued at approximately €5 billion to support offshore wind energy development. The scheme, notified under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework adopted in June 2025, will run for 20 years. It will support the construction and operation of two offshore wind farms, Hesselø and North Sea I Mid.

PPC and METLEN to develop 1.5 GW BESS across Europe

PPC Group and METLEN Energy & Metals have entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement to develop battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Romania, Bulgaria and Italy. The agreement provides for the creation of a JV company in which both will hold an equal 50 per cent stake. The collaboration will focus on the development, construction and operation of a BESS portfolio with a total capacity of up to 1,500 MW/3,000 MWh.

The European Commission (EC) has approved a €1.1 billion French state aid scheme aimed at expanding domestic cleantech manufacturing capacity in line with the Clean Industrial Deal. Acwa to develop 5 GW renewable energy projects in Türkiye

Acwa has signed an investment agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye under the 5 GW intergovernmental renewable energy programme. Under the agreement, Acwa will be responsible for developing, financing, constructing, commissioning, and operating the projects. The agreements cover the development of five renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 5 GW.

Alpiq acquires 535 MW Navaleo Pumped Storage Project in Spain

Alpiq has acquired the Navaleo hydro pumped storage project (PSP) in Castilla y León, Spain. The project was developed by Erbienergía and is currently at an advanced stage, with commercial operations planned for the early 2030s. The project is expected to provide 535 MW of flexible capacity to the Spanish grid, supporting system stability and enabling higher renewable energy integration.

RWE and Vestas ink wind turbine deal for Vanguard West project in UK

RWE has entered into an agreement with Vestas for the supply of offshore wind turbines for the Vanguard West project in UK. Under the agreement, Vestas will supply, deliver, and commission 92 of V236-15.0 MW offshore turbines. The contract follows the project securing a Contract for Difference in Allocation Round 7 and the establishment of a partnership between RWE and KKR to jointly develop the Vanguard projects.

Germany awards 2.34 GW solar projects

The Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the auction that closed on December 1, 2025, for ground-mounted solar projects and solar projects on structures that are neither buildings nor noise barriers. The auction was oversubscribed, with 634 bids submitted for a total capacity of 5,247 MW against a tendered volume of 2,328 MW. Out of these, 262 bids amounting to 2,341 MW were awarded.

UK auctions 4.9 GW solar and 1.3 GW onshore wind projects

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero of UK has announced the results of a clean energy auction, spanning solar, onshore wind, and tidal projects. Around 4.9 GW of solar capacity was awarded across 157 projects, 1.3 GW of onshore wind from 28 projects, and 20.9 MW of tidal capacity from four projects. The tariffs for onshore wind capacity was £72.24 per MWh, while the tariff for solar projects was £65.23 per MWh.

Océalia Cooperative Group and TSE have entered into a partnership to jointly develop agriphotovoltaic (agri-PV) projects across the cooperative’s operating territory in France.
