METLEN secures financial close for solar portfolio in Australia 

Metlen Energy and Metals (METLEN) has reached financial close on a refinancing of all its operating and under-construction assets in Australia. Furthermore, the financial close was reached with lenders, namely Deutsche Bank, Intesa Sanpaolo (IMI CIB Division), and Westpac Banking Corporation. Once operational, the solar portfolio will produce renewable energy of almost 1 TWh annually.

Octopus Energy invests £2 billion in UK clean energy

Octopus Energy has revealed plans to invest £2 billion in UK clean energy projects by 2030. As part of this initiative, the company, through its Octopus Energy Development Partnership (OEDP) and the Sky fund (ORI SCSp), has signed agreements with BayWa r.e. to develop four new solar farms in Bristol, Essex, East Riding of Yorkshire, and Wiltshire.

JERA Nex acquires two solar farms in US from Lightsource bp

JERA Nex has purchased two US solar projects with a combined capacity of 395 MW from Lightsource bp. The transaction has gained all regulatory clearances, is JERA Nex’s first since its establishment in April. It includes its first US solar assets: the 300 MW Oxbow solar farm in Louisiana and the 95 MW Happy solar farm in Arkansas. Furthermore, both the plants are commercially operational and provide renewable energy to their clients.

Canadian Solar to sell stake in 738 MW solar capacity to SPIC Brasil

Canadian Solar has agreed to sell its 70 per cent stake in Brazil’s Marangatu and Panati-Sitiá solar farms to SPIC Brasil for an undisclosed sum. The two solar projects will have a combined generating capacity of 738 MW and will cover a land area of 2,200 hectares. The projects are in advanced stages of development and are located in the states of Piaui and Ceara in Brazil’s north-eastern region.

NYSERDA selects five Boralex solar facilities in New York solicitation

As part of its 2021 solicitation for utility-scale renewable energy certificates, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has selected five Boralex solar projects with a cumulative capacity of 540 MW and a battery capacity of 77 MW. The solar farms, which are spread across upstate New York, have the potential to generate more than 1 TWh of renewable energy every year.

Lightsource bp plans to develop 1 GW of solar capacity in France

By 2026, Lightsource bp, a joint venture between Lightsource and bp, intends to develop 1 GW of solar power capacity in France.  To achieve this target, the company plans to build many large-scale ground-mount solar farms.  Under the agreement, Lightsource bp plans to engage in public tenders and provide companies with sustainable energy through power purchase agreements.
