A.P. Moller Capital, through its Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund II (EMIF II), has signed an agreement to acquire Mainstream Renewable Power South Africa. Mainstream Renewable Power was established in 2009. It has a portfolio comprising 148 MW of operating and under-construction assets, 351 MW of construction-ready projects, and an approximately 11.6 GW pipeline of solar, wind, and battery storage projects.
Furthermore, the transaction builds on A.P. Moller’s existing investments across Africa and Asia, including projects in South Africa, Cabo Verde, Nigeria, Kenya, Southeast Asia, and India. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
In April 2026, Mainstream Renewable Power announced that it has received commercial operations date (COD) certification for the Ckhúri Wind Farm from the National Electricity Coordinator. The project is located in Calama in the Antofagasta Region, Chile. The project has an installed capacity of 109.2 MW and comprises 26 Vestas turbines. Furthermore, the project is expected to supply clean energy sufficient to power approximately 166,000 Chilean homes.
Last year, the company sold a 675 MW renewable energy portfolio in Colombia to Celsia. The portfolio consisted of solar and wind energy projects, which were at various stages of development. The solar projects are Andromeda and Pollux, each with a capacity of 100 MW, and Aries with a capacity of 175 MW. The wind projects in the portfolio are Neptuno and Sirius, each with a capacity of 150 MW, located in La Guajira.
