Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), one of India’s largest renewable energy companies, has commissioned a total of 1 GW of solar capacity at Khavda in the state of Gujarat. This 1 GW project is the part of a larger 30 GW renewable energy park that is expected to be completed over the next five years and will be spread over 538 sq km of barren land.

The 1 GW project has been completed in less than 12 months since commencing work at the project site in Khavda. The project has been constructed with approximately 2.4 million solar modules. Further, waterless module cleaning robots have been deployed for the entire solar capacity to address soiling issues on panels in the arid Kutch region of Gujarat.

AGEL develops and operates utility scale solar, wind and hybrid renewable power plants. The company has a locked-in growth trajectory up to 20.8GW and an operating renewable portfolio of over 9 GW in India. The company is aiming to set up 45 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.

REGlobal’s Views: AGEL is strengthening its capabilities across almost all verticals of renewable energy from solar and wind power to hybrids as well as green hydrogen and solar manufacturing space. The company is also present in the power transmission space. With such a diverse portfolio of assets, the company is suitably placed to maintain its lead as of the largest renewable energy players in the country. The company is exploring the expansion of its portfolio to neighboring nations like Sri Lanka, to diversify its operations base.
