Air Liquide has issued a new €500 million green bond to finance or refinance flagship energy transition and sustainable projects. The projects will particularly focus on low-carbon hydrogen, carbon capture, and low-carbon air gases. Reportedly, the bond has been significantly oversubscribed by investors.
Furthermore, the company has raised this bond with a maturity period of 10 years at a yield of 3.466 per cent. The bond is issued under the company’s Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) programme. Further, this new green bond issuance comes after the company’s inaugural 2021 green bond issue.
In November 2023, Air Liquide and Siemens Energy inaugurated their gigawatt-scale electrolyser factory in Berlin, Germany. The mass production of electrolyser components will enable the production of low-carbon hydrogen on an industrial scale and at a competitive cost. The recently opened new production facility covers over 2,000 square metres.
REGlobal’s Views: Green bonds have become important instruments to raise finance for renewable energy projects globally. This green bond issuance will significantly help the company to accelerate its growth across different markets in the rapidly expanding hydrogen and other low-carbon spaces.
