India’s latest solar auction witnesses tariffs dropping to an all-time low of $0.027 per unit

Solar power tariffs dropped to a historic low in the state-run Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI’s) latest auction for 1,070 MW of solar capacity to be set up in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The lowest tariff of Rs 2 per unit ($0.027 per unit) was quoted by Saudi Arabian firm Aljomaih Energy and Water Company and Singapore headquartered Sembcorp’s India arm’ Green Infra Wind Energy Ltd to win 200 MW and 400 MW of solar capacity respectively.

Voltalia commissions a 10 MW/13.6 MWh battery storage project in France

France-based renewable energy player Voltalia has commissioned the Mana battery storage project at the Toco storage complex located in French Guiana. With a capacity of 10 MW/ 13.6 MWh, the Mana project adds on to the existing capacity at the Toco complex, bringing the total installed storage capacity to 12.6 MW/16.5 MWh.

New York City’s Roosevelt Island to get power from tidal turbines

Marine energy company, Verdant Power, has installed tidal power turbines in New York City’s East River which will provide clean electricity to the narrow Roosevelt Island through a distributed generation system connected to Con Edison’s local grid. World’s first hybrid offshore interconnector inaugurated in Baltic Sea

Electricity system operators 50Hertz (German) and Energinet (Danish) have inaugurated a hybrid offshore interconnector, the Combined Grid Solution (CGS), to integrate both German and Danish offshore wind farms. This is the first such project of its kind worldwide and is being implemented in the Baltic Sea, connecting two offshore wind substations to each other as well their existing onshore connections.

New York State approves the expanded Clean Energy Standard for achieving 70 per cent renewables by 2030

New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced an expansion of the Clean Energy Standard as approved by the New York State Public Service Commission. With this, the state has the authority to issue Request for Proposals for renewable power deployment so as to help in achieving the goals laid out in New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, or CLCPA.
