Boralex Inc. has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 106 MW Limekiln Wind Farm near Thurso in Caithness, Scotland. This 3-year PPA with Statkraft will cover the period from the wind farm’s expected commissioning by the end of 2024 until the contract for difference takes effect in April 2028.

Furthermore, this announcement follows Boralex’s recent financial close for the project, secured through a 19-year term loan from National Westminster Bank PLC (NatWest) and Export Development Canada. The construction is advancing according to plan, with turbine components being delivered to the site over the summer.

In May 2024, Boralex revealed the selection of the Oxford Battery Energy Storage project. The project is a 125 MW, four-hour duration battery storage project situated in the Township of South-West Oxford, Ontario. This project was chosen by Ontario’s Independent Electricity Systems Operator (IESO) further to its Long-Term Request for Proposals (LT1 RFP).

Boralex, with over 30 years in the renewable energy sector, is a leading player in Canada and France’s onshore wind markets. The company is expanding into the US and UK, has increased its capacity to over 3 GW in the past five years, and is developing a 6.8 GW portfolio in wind, solar, and storage projects.
