bp has agreed to sell its US onshore wind business, bp Wind Energy to LS Power. bp Wind Energy, following the close, will be owned and operated as a part of LS Power portfolio company Clearlight Energy, thereby increasing its operating fleet to around 4.3 GW. The deal is anticipated to conclude by the end of 2025.
bp Wind Energy has interests in ten operating onshore wind energy assets, operating nine of them. The assets are situated across seven states in US. The combined gross generating capacity of assets is 1.7 GW (1.3 GW net to bp). Additionally, all the assets are connected to the grid and are providing power to over 15 off-takers.
Earlier in June 2025, bp, along with its partners entered into a series of agreements in Azerbaijan. The agreements include final investment decisions (FID) for the development of the Shah Deniz Compression project, the Shafag solar, and the Sangachal terminal electrification projects.
