US issues news rules for wind and solar tax credits

The US Internal Revenue Service has released new regulations outlining stricter requirements on when construction of wind and solar projects is considered to have begun, for determining whether such projects are subject to the credit termination provisions in line with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The legislation terminates the clean electricity production and investment credits for projects placed in service after December 31, 2027.

Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027.

The electricity generated from the project will be sufficient to power around 375,000 homes, and will offset over 400,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
