Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Growth Markets Fund II, has reached final investment decision (FID) and financial close on La Esperanza hybrid project located in Campeche, Mexico. The project comprises a 420 MWdc solar project with a 150 MW/750 MWh five-hour duration battery energy storage system. Project construction is currently underway, with commercial operations expected to commence in 2028.
Furthermore, the project has secured approximately $510 million in debt financing from BNP Paribas, JPMorgan Chase Bank, Natixis CIB, Santander, and Scotiabank, while equity is being provided by CIP Growth Markets Fund II with an expected co-investment from Profuturo. The project is also supported by a long-term power purchase agreement with CFE Calificados.
In June 2026, CIP, through its Advanced Bioenergy Fund I, reached the FID for the Cobirgy biogas plant located in Catalonia, Spain. The project will produce over 230 GWh of biomethane annually and around 150,000 tonnes of organic fertiliser and soil improver products. The plant will process up to 500,000 tonnes of agricultural and industrial organic waste annually.
