Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has launched Perigus Energy following the acquisition of Ørsted’s European onshore renewables business through its fifth flagship fund Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V). Perigus Energy currently has 826 MW of operational and under-construction renewable energy capacity. Perigus Energy will develop, build, and operate onshore wind, solar, and battery storage projects across Ireland, Germany, the UK, and Spain. Its portfolio currently generates renewable electricity to power around 600,000 European homes.
Furthermore, CI V reached its final close in March 2025, exceeding its target size of €12 billion. For Ørsted, this sale will allow the company to focus more on development of its offshore wind pipeline, where it expects a large number of auctions to be held in the coming years. Also, the company still retains its US onshore renewable business.
In April 2026, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) issued the final notice to proceed (FNTP) for the Patache BESS project, marking its official construction. The project is located in Iquique, Chile. The project has a 300 MW/1,500 MWh capacity. The project is being managed through CIP’s Growth Markets Fund II. The project builds on CIP’s 1,100 MWh Arena BESS project in the Antofagasta region.
In April 2026, Palisade Investment Partners, via Intera Renewables, acquired a 100 per cent interest in the 240 MW/960 MWh Summerfield battery energy storage system (BESS) from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The facility located east of Adelaide, is currently under construction with a scheduled completion date in late 2026. This acquisition bolsters Palisade’s total renewable energy portfolio to 2.5 GW.
REGlobal’s Views: With Europe gearing up to secure its energy security, there is a growing demand for acceleration of renewable power across the continent, and significant interest from investors to secure larger market shares. This deal significantly expands CIP’s European portfolio and cements its position in the onshore renewables market. A number of operational and under implementation projects supported by government backed support schemes as well as corporate PPAs further give the company assured revenues.
