Horizonte wind farm, located in the municipality of Taltal in the Antofagasta Region, has commenced commercial operations. The wind project, developed by Colbún, began supplying electricity to the National Electric System at the end of 2024. The project entered full commercial operation in early September 2025 after completing tests required by the National Electricity Coordinator.
The northern section started commercial operations on June 2, 2025 followed by the southern section on September 2, 2025. The wind farm has an installed capacity of 816 MW and consists of 140 wind turbines. With this project, the company’s operational wind portfolio in Chile has reached 1,055 MW.
Earlier this month, Colbún SA issued a $500 million green bond placement in the international market at a 5.375 per cent coupon rate and maturing in 2035. They have a 5.415 per cent issue rate, representing a 120 basis points spread over the 10-year U.S. Treasury bond.
In April 2025, the Ministerio de Energía or Ministry of Energy of Chile, published the final Planificación Energética de Largo Plazo (PELP). PELP is a public policy instrument released every five years to ensure sustainable, resilient, and fair development of Chile’s power sector. It projects energy supply and demand scenarios, identifies development hubs for renewable energy generation, and provides guidance for investment decisions in the transmission sector.
