DAS Solar has officially commenced construction of its first overseas 3 GW module manufacturing plant in Mandeure, France. The Mandeure facility, situated in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, benefits from excellent transport links and robust local infrastructure. After setting up subsidiaries in Germany, Australia, and Japan, the company chose France to serve the growing European market.

The project facility rooftop will have a solar PV system to support captive power requirements. The facility will also include facilities for wastewater treatment and waste recycling, ensuring clean, sustainable operations throughout.

The company also plans to build additional ingot and wafer production units in France. Additionally, the company has entered into a strategic partnership with Nedey, a French automotive group, to explore new ventures in renewable energy. Earlier this month, DAS Solar inked a partnership with OSW, an Australian solar distributor, for the distribution of 500 MW of high-efficiency PV modules over the next three years.

REGlobal’s Views: With the current uncertainty in global geopolitics and ensuing trade conflicts, many Asian manufacturers are exploring the possibility of setting up facilities in Europe and the US. This helps them to diversify their supply chains and cater to large markets without trade restrictions.
